N1TRO X NARU X LOAKJ - Whos In Control

Hey everyone !

This summer, I bought myself a new laptop in order to participate in a competition on Newgrounds called "NGUAC" while I was on holiday.
We had to make one original song every 2 weeks. I ended up placing 17th out of 440 contestants.

This track came to be in the semi-finals of said-competition. 
I wanted to blend 2 of my favourite genres : Melodic House and UK Hardcore. While the final result was good, I felt like it wasn't enough.
That's why I invited one of my favourite artists, Feel SY, to improve the song. And that's how "Wonder" became "Wonderland".

So yeah, last time I forgot about my own release date, but this time, I didn't ! (or at least I started making the video 30 minutes before it launched)
This has to be one of my best tracks, thanks to Feel SY who pushed it to the next level. I really hope I'll get to work with him again in the future :)

나는 여기서 무얼 하고 있지?

이 숲을 처음 만들어 낸 곳은 나의 작은 작업실이었다. 처음으로 생긴 나와 내 음악만이 사는 곳. 행복한 발걸음만 내디뎠으면 좋았겠지만, 나는 그 거대한 숲에서 당연하게도 길을 잃고 말았다. 써지지 않는 곡과 초점 없는 나의 동공 사이에서 지하 건물의 꿉꿉한 공기만이 떠다니고 있었고, 나 또한 그 공간에 그저 잔류할 뿐이었다. 스스로에게 물었다. 나는 여기서 무얼 하는 거지? 이 미로 같은 숲에서 길을 잃은 내가, 맞는 길을 찾으려는 노력은 했던가? 그저 풀 향기에 취해 나태함을 덮어쓰고 수풀 속에 누워있진 않던가? 나의 창작물로 사람들을 이롭게 하리라. 그것이 나의 꿈이 아니었던가..? 

수없이 이어진 시간과 질문들은 나를 조금씩 벼랑으로 내몰았다. 그리고 어느 날 밤, 나는 꿈을 꾸었다. 나는  피철갑이 된 흰고래 한 마리를 마주치게 되고, 고래는 나에게 도움을 요청하는 듯했다. 하지만 고래의 거대한 몸집에 비해 나는 한없이 작은 인간 하나였고, 어찌할지 몰라 발을 동동 구르기만 했다. 그런 나는 아무런 상관이 없었다는 듯이, 얼마 지나지 않아 고래는 다시 멀쩡해졌고, 나에겐 눈길조차 주지 않은 채 떠나갔다. 그러고 뒤를 돌아보니, 검은 고래가 나를 잡아먹으러 다가오고 있었다. 나는 손쓸 새도 없이 사라졌고, 나의 마지막 표정은 여전히 웃지도 울지도 않고 멍하니 고래만 쳐다보고 있었다.

잠에서 깬 나는, 더 이상 멍하니 서 있지 않고 흰고래를 도와주기로 했다. 검은 고래로부턴 도망치기로 했다. 숲을 걸어 나가기로 했다. 피아노를 치기로 했다. 그것이 맞는 길인지는 개의치 않았다. 나의 전진이 다시 수없는 질문으로 바뀌어 나를 에워싸는 날이 오더라도, 그 평생의 수수께끼를 풀어가며 나는 살기로 했다. 그럼 다시 처음으로 돌아가서, 질문에 답을 해줘야겠다. 

나는 여기서 무얼 하고 있지?
나는 사람들을 이롭게 하는 음악을 만들고 있어. 나와 모두의 이야기를 담아줄 인생의 배경 음악. 그렇게 쌓인 이야기들은 시간을 초월하고, 귀를 통해 입으로 번진 우리의 미소는 영원토록 기억될 거야.


What am I doing here?

The first place that created this forest was my small studio. The first place where only me and my music live. I wish I had only taken happy steps, but I was naturally lost in that huge forest. Only the damp air of the underground building was floating between the unwritten song and my unfocused pupils, and I also just stayed in the space. I asked myself. What am I doing here? Lost in this labyrinthine forest, have I tried to find the right way? Didn't I just get drunk on the scent of grass and lie in the bushes with laziness over my head? I will benefit people with my creations. Wasn't that my dream?

Countless times and questions have pushed me to the brink little by little. And one night, I had a dream. I came across a blood-clad white whale, which seemed to ask me for help. However, compared to the huge size of the whale, I was an infinitely small human being, and I just stamped my feet. As if I had nothing to do with it, before long the whale became fine again, and left without even looking back. Then I looked back, and a black whale was coming to eat me. I disappeared without a trace, and my last expression was still staring blankly at the whale, neither laughing nor crying.

When I woke up, I decided to help the white whale instead of standing in a daze anymore. I decided to run away from the black whale. I decided to walk out of the forest. I decided to play the piano. I didn't care if it was the right way. Even if the day came when my advance turned into an impossible question and surrounded me, I decided to live by solving the mystery of my life. Then I'll have to go back to the beginning and answer the questions.

What am I doing here?
I'm making music that benefits people. Life's background music that will capture the stories of me and everyone. The stories piled up like that will transcend time, and our smiles that spread through our ears to our mouths will be remembered forever.
