Antonin Artaud (1896-1948) was a French writer, poet, draughtsman, actor, dramaturge and theatre theorist

By sheer accident I came across this small and riveting book by Stephen Barber, that was recently published by Diaphanes. It is called "A Sinister Assassin". It provides translations of Antonin Artaud's last writings (September 1947 - March 1948)

The following text is the last entry in his notebook:






so, the same figure
returns every 
morning (he is an other)
in order to accomplish his 
	revolting, criminal 
	and murderous, sinister 
	mission which is to 
	maintain
the state of bewitchment cast upon
me  (2)

and continue to
