Freak on a Leash

With the release of his solo debut album “Hellbilly Deluxe” Rob Zombie opened my mind and helped me to find yet another outlet for my fear, anger, and the furies raging inside me… After seeing him live on tour, I wrote this poem with great gusto and eagerness to let loose the admiration I have for his style, his music, and his amazing performances.

This poem was written in 1998 while listening to the “Hellbilly Deluxe” album, more specifically the song “Dragula” from which several words in this poem originated… AND from which the backing music originates...

Spoken Word Poetry (occasionally sung)

The variations in pitch and tone are simply my way of accentuating or multiplying the power of the point being stressed. In some situations, I have recorded or duplicated my vocals multiple times in order to make it sound as if multiple people were speaking. (See Native invocation, for instance)...

All poems are listed in chronological order. Thus, both "Illicit Ravings" and "In My Eyes 2.0.1.2" will remain at the bottom until I have added any recordings of poems written after those two...

In the end, many of my poems were written a long time ago in a very depressed and downtrodden state of life and mental escapism. I was letting out my frustrations and observing what desolation I was enduring at the time. Having lived homeless for much of the fall and winter of 1996, I have many things with which I was angry and held morbid fascinations for at that time...

NOTE THAT I HAVE NOT MADE ANY TRACKS DOWNLOADABLE! 
I refuse to allow anyone the ability to manipulate or distribute my vocals or any copyrighted songs I may have used as backing to my words.

In no way do I wish to infringe upon copyright laws, as these are my own recordings inspired by the music which backs them. I mean them as tributes and helpful promotional materials for said musicians and myself. If, for any reason, the owner of the rights to these songs wishes to contest my use of their work, please inform me and I will promptly and immediately cease and desist and remove all traces of their music from my poetry.

By locking these files from being downloaded, I am not allowing them to be distributed for free or for profit. I am hoping, as more than half of the SoundCloud website library consists of manipulated copyrighted music, that my use of any music I have personally purchased the compact disc and paid the artist for (which is everything except Kevin MacLeod's Royalty Free music) justifies my claim to utilize such fascinating and fantastic material for my poetry recordings...
