Parisian label Cracki Records has teamed up once again with Hong Kong label Fauve Records, headed by producer and DJ Romain FX, for a new compilation entitled “Make Italo Disco Great Again Vol.IV”!
Following in the footsteps of COEO, Maltitz and Mangabey, this new album continues to give the floor to artists from all over the world (Ireland, Korea, Mexico, Germany...) to share their vision of the very special genre of Italo disco. First glimpse with Mexican artist Mystery Affair, who sweeps us off our feet on “Le Navire de l'Amour” .

Curitiba-raised, Milan-based Bárbara Boeing is back with ‘Pantelleria’ taken from Memoir EP, her second release on Toy Tonics, due out on 1st November.

After many years of digging for dance floor gems and fine-tuning her ear, Bárbara arrived at a point where she felt ready and inspired to make her own music, dropping her debut Brasiliana on Toy Tonics in 2023 - a collection of tracks that did not seek cohesion between themselves but rather aimed to reflect the breadth of sounds and genres that make their way into her DJ sets.

Since then, Bárbara has continued her journey from highly respected selector to music producer and now returns with 4 brand-new colorful and uplifting tracks. This time, Bárbara took to the studio to collaborate on two EP tracks with Stump Valley and also reunited with Sam Ruffillo (both of Toy Tonics). The result is a 4 track EP that combines a mixture of 80s and early 90s music with genres that she usually brings in her sets, as well as some diverse influences picked up while she was touring in Asia.

After a full year of work, we can proudly tell you that November 15, 2024 marks the release of our first label reference. A powerful nu-disco and italo EP conceived during the spring and summer, halfway between Spain and Germany.

It comes with the signature of synth maestro Philipp Lauer, and remixes by Johannes Albert and Max Buchalik. A dream team for a label debut, that originally began its path in the industry as a weekly mix series in December ’22.

Back in 2018, Argentinian producer Fernando Pulichino released ‘Search of Indigo’ on Leng, a shuffling slab of colourful, Balearic-adjacent dub disco featuring his own distinctive lead vocals and backing vocals from Luca Gasparini. Six years on, the track returns renewed and refreshed thanks to a string of new floor-friendly reworks by LTJ Experience and Pulichino himself.

Fernando kicks off the EP with his ‘AM Mix’, an inspired re-invention that re-frames the song as a hard-wired, acid-fired chugger – all restless, razor-sharp TB-303 lines, low-slung bass guitar and sparkling piano riffs. On the digital version of the EP Pulichino has also offered up his ‘PM Mix’, a deliciously Balearic disco dub rich in colourful synth sounds, elastic bass, flanged guitars and sun-bright piano licks.

It's LTJ Experience’s trio of remixes that lie at the heart of the EP though. The Italian producer, real name Luca Trevisi, initially made his name as a downtempo and nu-jazz producer before perfecting a trademark style of chugging, slow-motion hedonism that draws influence from both deep house and nu-disco. His main Remix foregrounds many of these trademark elements, in the process delivering a bongo-rich chugger laden with delay-heavy bass guitar sounds, head-nodding drums, heady guitar loops and echoing vocal snippets.

On the Dirty Mix, Trevisi reaches for tight, short TB-303 ‘acid’ loops, a more sparse and heavy rhythm track offering a more heads-down, dubbed-out affair that should delight those who love late night and early morning hypnotism with flashes of wide-eyed sonic bliss. Then, to round things off, Trevisi delivers a heady, atmospheric and spaced-out Dub full of jazz guitar licks, bubbling electronics, vocal snippets and effects-laden bass. It’s a winning combination.

The second of a series of remixes from Kasper Bjørke’s latest album “Puzzles” has been crafted by Kaspe Bjørke himself. “Reworking your own catalogue is always a challenge”, he says “and it’s not something I have done very often. Yet, transforming I Was There into a club track for DJs was incredibly rewarding.

On the Puzzles album, this trackmaybe stood out a bit compared to the rest of the songs - but in its remixed form, it fully embraces its club potential. “On the rework I took out the live bass and guitars and opting for a programmed kick drum while making the overall track more synth-driven. Using a 303 acid bassline and more distinct keyboard layers, I wanted to bring a new dimension to the track while preserving the raw, live energy of the original drums.”

It’s basically a tribute to the 2000’s post disco sound of New York which was and still is incredibly inspiring to me - it was a scene that has had a lasting influence on me both as a
producer and music fan, shaped by my countless trips to the city, for working
on new music, DJing and getting lost in the night life.
