The ninth release of katharsis is the EP “Journey Before Destination” by @jjjacob, which is the first full release of the label founder on his own label. The EP spans six tracks and is quite a deviation in sound from his earlier releases on labels such as ANBA, high heal and Sweat Taste. Taking a step away from his usual tools of heavily automated synths and complex midi-based melodies, this EP focuses closely on recordings of acoustic instruments and vocals done by jjjacob himself throughout the pandemic year.

gone icon is a producer, singer, and "non-DJ" based in Brussels, Belgium who composes delicate pieces of whispered, processed vocals, struggling melodies, and somber, isolated percussive layers. His first track Nod, a remarkable effort of quiet and eerie ambiance, surfaced almost a year ago shortly followed by the three-tracker, self-released debut EP titled whispers r screams in which the artist showcases the main feature of the project: a wavering, ever-hesitant, at times muffled voice, uttering suffocating laments which resonate in fuzzy, squirming cyber-chambers where one could imagine the artist's creative and emotive drive would reside.

His work takes inspiration from a range of genres and stimuli that go to define his peculiar style, better described as 2020s state-of-the-art songwriting. gone icon adds to traditional vocal practices and reminiscences of classical music the post-Internet visual and conceptual identity, together with fine sound design and synthesis, and sharp, edgy frequency bursts recovered from the contemporary, deconstructed club scene. In this sense, the artist is sure as inspired by Arca, Eartheater, and Klein (reportedly so) as he is by Xiu Xiu's Jamie Stewart early works of devastating urgency and their ability to cause unmendable heart lacerations.

Today, we're honored to premiere his last single called babie, out in two day's time on April 16th. The composition, taking just over two minutes, opens to the sound of waves crashing on the shore, shortly followed by the vocals introducing the image of a face shrouded in darkness via heartfelt, intimate lyrics. The high-pitched, delicate singing is complemented by rare, dissonant sound components that go to define an unforgettable piece of minimalistic, ethereal, and emotional electronic music. Enjoy!

I’m Not A Writer es un proyecto que empieza por el final, donde todo se ha hecho al revés. Y precisamente ahí reside su fuerza: en la contradicción, en lo inesperado, en lo que no busca encajar. Hoy, 23 de julio, se presenta su primer EP homónimo, una obra caleidoscópica que transforma el caos en belleza sonora.
Este alterego de Darío Sánchez —colaborador en proyectos como Pumuky y Montevideo, e integrante de la banda granadina Joe Maremoto— se revela en cuatro temas que combinan melodías pop, sintetizadores atmosféricos y ritmos electrónicos envolventes. "The Breath of Air" is the third release of katharsis, a new label focusing on emotionally charged music run by Copenhagen-based artist @jjjacob. This release is the third part of compilation trilogy featuring 30 different artists from all around the world. It follows the first compilation "The Flow of Water" released on May 21st and the second compilation "The Burn of Fire" released on June 11th.

The vibe of this compilation seems to fall between its two predecessors respectively tranquil and anxious moods. The ten artists of the record take you on a 40-minute contemplative journey of experimental and ambient music.
