Recently noticed for his highly energetic DJ sets, barely 20 years old youngster GREG, resident of Parisian’s hottest parties « La Creole » and also member of the growing crew « Boukan Records », is back in the limelight to release his very first EP « Eau Coulée Smart City » on former Concrete (Paris) club founder’s label: lavibe.
While the title refers to his hometown in Mauritius, the Parisian based producer delivers a four-tracker club-ready tool, with various tempo, blending Kuduro, Shatta, Jungle and more, standing as a sonorous portrayal of his city as well as a mix of all his musical influences.
The Ep also includes “Dembow Tronico”, a club banger produced in collaboration with french producer and beatmaker King Doudou, known to be the man behind many hits, including productions for PNL, J Balvin or Bad Gyal.

Casual Gabberz’s member and super skilled producer Krampf, reinforced the EP with some additional productions and mix on “Eau Coulée Smart City”, “Langet”, “Shatta”, and mix only on “Dembow Tronico”.

All tracks have been mastered by Lorenzo Targhetta.

Following last year’s The Link Up EP with DJ Polo, London club music veterans Tribal Brothers return to Livity Sound with four tracks of taut, high-impact drum science. 

Given LR Groove and Razzlerman’s long-standing legacy within UK Funky and many other genres, it’s no surprise to hear the distinctive, shuffled 4/4 thrust behind the tracks on Formation EP. Reflecting the wide-open dialogues taking place between global dance cultures, the duo once again draw on a variety of international styles and fold them into their productions. You might notice touches of harder rave-rooted soundsystem music, but there’s also a pronounced influence from across the spectrum of Afro house. They namecheck amapiano artists Virgo Deep, Felo Le Tee and Kabza De Small, Afro house titans Black Motion and Black Coffee and Gqom pioneer DJ Lag as sources of inspiration. 

Fusing these touchstones with their own steeped history in London-rooted club sounds, their end product comes out as a self-described blend of “hard-hitting bass lines, complex drum patterns and African chants,” effective in their live ‘decks n’ drums’ shows as well as in their productions.

Sumac presents three exclusive tracks from label founders DJ Plead, Jon Watts and T.Morimoto. This is the first in a series of releases dedicated to reworked material from Utility's singular 2019 release Nexus Destiny (SU005).

DJ Plead extends 'Flooot' into a hypnotic 140BPM journey; Jon Watts contextualises 'Vert Bend' against his signature hard-as-nails electro template; and T.Morimoto bends '96Khz Rapture' + 'Cloudy Choir' into a heady psychedelic mix.

Nexus Destiny is an experiment in preset aesthetics conceived by Utility (T.Morimoto and Austin Buckett) as equal parts sonic readymade, machine/human collaboration, ambient soundtrack and sample pack for fellow producers.

On ‘Pots & Pans’, Le Motel uses organic elements stacking them against stems filled with bass and drums, adding to his excellent back catalogue of self-releases and collaborative projects.

Leading with ’Azande’, the track blends UK Garage, dub techno, and jungle and features hypnotic chants from Wayo - a small village in South Sudan. In this village music is king and everyone is a master of their shared sound which summons ancient polyrhythms of Africa’s newest nation.

‘Shaolin’ is a dark dubstep production featuring Nigerian MC, Magugu. The Shaolin training teaches you how to be sharp in a dangerous environment, ‘we come in peace but ready to defend our peace’.

On the last two tracks (‘Work Your Back’ and ‘Ay Chica’), Le Motel dominates with a brilliant blend of his varying influences whilst staying true to his focus of driving drums and weighty bass.
