80's Child - Hurt So Much - (80'S Child Rework)

Masterworks Music certainly know how to make an entrance, kicking off their new "Bag Of Tricks" series with a star-studded cast of studio wizzards. The young label hand pick four of the best high-end sizzlers from a who's who of the nu-disco scene, providing any jock on the frontline with a whole lot of bang for their buck. First up, Spain's edit master Rayko takes a break from his Rare Wiri imprint to turn out a red hot electro-disco groover based on Chic's "Dance Dance Dance" - scorchio! Next up, Kiu D follows up his impressive release on Special Edition with the housed up heat of italo-funk freakout "New Year", a slick hit of synths and strings which will get everyone on the floor. On the flipside, 80's Child power dresses to impress with the shoulder-padded power-stomp of "Bangkok Nights", the perfect new wave sleazer complete with MASSIVE 80's snares. Last but not least, we bask in the soul-glow shimmer of the disco ball as Dr Packer leads the club into the erection section with synth-soul seducer "Too Much For Me To Take". C'est magnifique!

With their residency at South London Soul Train at London warehouse venue The Bussey Building and a steady flow of DJ bookings, it’s been non stop for the Reach Up crew. Highly qualified record label exec/artist manager Nick Halkes, having gained his reputation by founding both the XL Recordings and Positiva labels once again proves he also has the midas touch for nu disco anthems. ‘Dreaming’ is just that, an irresistible scorcher that will tear apart any saturday dance floor with Jazz’s excellent vocals and sparkling 80’s hooks making this a killer authentic modern day production.

We have been watching 80's Child for quite some time & now we are proud to have him join the Retrospective extended family!

You would be excused for thinking that 80's Child was raised at the legendary Zero 6 nightclub in Southend On Sea, but no, Warrington homeboy UK Producer Danny Worrall is a true Child of the 80’s. Born in 1980 Danny's parents played a huge part in his first musical influences, listening to the likes of Toto, Prince, Michael McDonald, Hall'n'Oates and Michael Jackson to name a few. 

To find this sound Danny went back and revisited his musical youth and the special feelings and memories that this created, listening closely to artists such as Hall & Oates, Stevie Wonder, Alexander O’Neal, Evelyn Champagne King and many more ….. this in turn was everything he needed and more to rekindle his love and passion for the industry and the music. 

Whilst researching his new sound further, he was introduced to Soundcloud where he discovered other aspiring and established artists such as Greg Wilson, Late Nite Tuff Guy, Ruben & Ra, Get Down Edits, Tiger & Woods and 78 Edits who incorporated the same styles and direction that he was pursuing himself. This changed his outlook completely and he began to experiment producing his own extended edits leading to full reworks of tracks that hold a massive place in his heart.

 THIS WAS THE BIRTH OF THE 80s CHILD!!!!!!

He’s featured on line ups with the world’s finest selectors including Greg Wilson, Joey Negro, Melvo Baptiste, Tiger & Woods, Purple Disco Machine & Danny Krivit.

Ambitious & tirelessly active alongside his partner in crime Tom Laroye they are signed to Glitterbox Recordings as Qwestlife. Having already released 2 chart busting singles ‘Give Me A Minute’ &  ‘Hit It Off’ they are set to unleash their block party rocker ‘Fever’ feat Sugarhill Gang, Melle Mel, Scorpio & Siedah Garrett. 

Behind the creation of 3 record labels Midnight Riot, Black Riot & Ism, theyl have a diversity of sounds with a line-up of producers, DJ’s including the world’s finest Eli Escobar, Ron Basejam, Lenny Fontana, John Morales and many more. Since 2016 he’s been the Mixmag disco editor, providing a cutting edge platform for the disco, boogie & house modern scene, not forgetting his production touches for the legendary NYC disco band Odyssey. Following on in 2016 he released & co produced with Detroit’s Amp Fiddler’s their critically acclaimed album ‘Motor City Booty’. 

Over the years he’s added disco fever to Grace Jones (PIAS), John Legend (Sony Records) Josh Stone (Virgin Records). His party led productions have been released on Glitterbox, Classic Music Company, Ubiquity and with Joey Negro’s Z Records as Yam Who? & Jaegerossa ‘Grateful’ featuring Jacqui George, not forgetting one of biggest Traxsource Top 100 tunes of 2018, Dubplate Disco’s  ‘Pick Up’ (Yam Who edit). To round off 2019 look out for the forthcoming remixes compilation on Midnight Riot.
