Digge Shim LIVE at Solstice 2024

For episode 62 we present Spanish-born producer and DJ, Dip Shim/Digge Shim. He relocated to Malmö, Sweden a few years back and found his calling in the reincarnation of electro through his relentless output of acid-flavored 303 jams. Besides establishing the Malmø Traxx label he also ran the city's foremost record shop for electronic dance music.

Interview with Dip Shim: 

Q: What made you start DJing?
A: I used to play in a band with my best friend in Spain. My friend’s father, a well-known experimental music pioneer, gave us synths and an old CD with an early version of Logic software. One thing led to another, and we started producing music at a young age, spending time at record stores, DJing, and getting into clubbing.

Q: Describe your style in three words.
A: Detroit, Techno, Electro // Boom boom bap


Q: Your best set in 2024/2025?
A: Hard to say—playing a live set in Tbilisi, Georgia was amazing. for Dj set, My gigs at Inkonst feel always special, and it's amazing to play at home for the people I love.


Q: Your favorite track right now?
A: Las Grecas, Te estoy amando locamente

Q: A track you never get tired of?
A: UR003 The Final Frontier 

Q: Where can one find the best falafel in Malmö?
A: I wouldn’t know personally since I don’t really eat falafel, but based on passionate debates I've overheard, Jalla Jalla?

Live somewhere. I wasn't there unfortunately. 1993-94ish. Originally recorded on DAT, I assume, before it landed in my possession in the form of a cassette. I first heard this mix with a group of friends after an awesome, late night, party adventure. This mix encompasses all great things about House, Deep House, and the movement at the time....
