We set up in secret location in Philly to bring you a massive 4 hour stream the only way PEX knows how. 

This set features tracks from some of my favourite producers right now who are at the forefront of Progressive House, Indie Dance and Techno.

This is a particularly special set for me. After a mishap on the playa, I was on crutches and in a fair amount of pain. Knowing that my participation in the burn was severely limited for the rest of the week, I got up on the stage with the help of my camp mates and played one of my favourite sets in recent memory. Two ibuprofen and several mojitos later, I was dancing in the DJ booth on my one good leg, and carried that smile for the rest of the week.

Many thanks to my partner, my camp mates, and the oodles of friends and strangers who helped out before, during, and after this set! My body may have been busted, but my heart was full 💚

I've been to 4 consecutive burns now, 2016 was my first. I've been blessed to play a number of sound camps and art cars, but I've always thought of DISTRIKT as one of the great whites, with a reputation that I’ve known about since before I made my first pilgrimage to the Playa. The hardworking and meticulous DISTRIKT team always provide a mystical experience for all of us dusty musically inclined burners,  with a carefully curated lineup and grade A Funkworks sound. Like many DJs, I hoped to one day be given the opportunity to perform on this stage, and when I was asked to open the stage on Saturday morning at this year's Burn I was truly honored and stoked! I view the opener time slot as a challenging role that comes with a lot of responsibility and one that must be handled appropriately. I often have more opportunities for late-night sets so it was really exciting to step out of my usual zone and get to flex my chops with a daytime set! I drew on my memory of DISTRIKT over the years and felt inspired to bring to the table a different kind of opening set. I wanted to do something very minimal start to finish, but with a careful progression throughout my tale, covering different areas and emotions. Thank you DISTRIKT for giving me such a fun and unique opportunity, an experience I won't forget!

DISTRIKT has accepted me to come home with them for my first burn in 2018, and has become a big part of my burn family, and even extending into the default world.  In 2019, they had graciously allowed me to live a dream and perform on playa to gift those in attendance with music that came from the heart and soul.  I had played the opening set, in which many folks were still in bed recovering from the sunrise celebrations - but, the night before, I had met so many beautiful souls, and I had told each of them that I would be performing.  To my surprise, they ALL showed up, filling me with so much love and support, it was something I'll never forget!  DISTRIKT will forever be my home for many burns to come. Yaz is a San Francisco-based DJ who enjoys playing tech house, deep tech, minimal, and techno. He is an active member of the Burning Man community and underground house/techno community in San Francisco.

Yaz has played all over San Francisco at all the major venues, including Public Works, Mighty / The Great Northern, Monarch, Midway, and Halcyon. He was a resident DJ at the venerated Wish Lounge for 5+ years, running his monthly Wayward party right up until the pandemic caused Wish to close. Once it was safe to do so, he has taken Wayward to its new home F8 Nightclub, and has been a resident there since August 2021. 

Yaz has collaborated with many different promoters and labels, and has opened and closed for (or shared billing with) well-known artists including John Digweed, Bob Moses, The Scumfrog, Tommy Four Seven, John Monkman, Technasia, and Marques Wyatt, to name a few.

His love for Burning Man is only rivaled by his love for music. His styles go from deep tech, minimal and techno to indie dance. You can find him on the playa playing for his camp DeMentha, and everywhere else for The Janky Barge, Airpusher, and Icarus. Yaz has also participated in many fundraisers in San Francisco for the aforementioned camps, as well as DISTRIKT, Mayan Warrior, the Salty Jacks, and others.
