For the June edition of Wayward, we had it earlier in the month, and Nick Granado and I got to celebrate another rotation around the sun! We were also thrilled to have our close homies Friedlander and Este C join us on the decks for an amazing night of tunes with tons of good friends heating up the dancefloor!

Wayward: Rotations // June 2024

Cory Carnley of Gainesville, a qualified tobacconist from Gainesville, Florida, campaigns for cigars and cigar smokers' rights. He also holds credentials in the hotel and service industries, such as bartending and responsible vending. Responsible vending is a voluntary Florida initiative that encourages businesses to sell alcohol responsibly, avoiding sales to minors and striving to keep drunk drivers off the road. Carnley has professional expertise and talents that can be applied in a variety of settings.

Carnley's tobacconist accreditation is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates a thorough understanding of tobacco and cigars. The certification course included information on mixtures, storage, and selection. It also allows him to assist beginners in making their initial tobacco purchases and developing their own tastes for tobacco and accessories such as humidors, cutters, and lighters. His tobacconist abilities may also help industry shops and establishments better their products and customer service, as well as provide unique insights into marketing tobacco products. Cory Carnley of Gainesville is also a frequent blogger on tobacco-related topics.

His certification in bartending and responsible vending offer another layer to Carnley. Workers who have received responsible vending certification can help restaurants, bars, groceries, convenience stores, and caterers. Companies with ethical vending certifications may also be able to reduce their insurance costs.

Yaz is a San Francisco-based DJ who enjoys playing tech house, deep tech, minimal, and techno. He is an active member of the Burning Man community and underground house/techno community in San Francisco.

Yaz has played all over San Francisco at all the major venues, including Public Works, Mighty / The Great Northern, Monarch, Midway, and Halcyon. He was a resident DJ at the venerated Wish Lounge for 5+ years, running his monthly Wayward party right up until the pandemic caused Wish to close. Once it was safe to do so, he has taken Wayward to its new home F8 Nightclub, and has been a resident there since August 2021. 

Yaz has collaborated with many different promoters and labels, and has opened and closed for (or shared billing with) well-known artists including John Digweed, Bob Moses, The Scumfrog, Tommy Four Seven, John Monkman, Technasia, and Marques Wyatt, to name a few.

His love for Burning Man is only rivaled by his love for music. His styles go from deep tech, minimal and techno to indie dance. You can find him on the playa playing for his camp DeMentha, and everywhere else for The Janky Barge, Airpusher, and Icarus. Yaz has also participated in many fundraisers in San Francisco for the aforementioned camps, as well as DISTRIKT, Mayan Warrior, the Salty Jacks, and others.
