For those unfamiliar with this hometown hero, Denver native Aaron
Bordas is one of a rising breed of young producers permeating the city’s music scene. Inspired by a rooted love for house and deep tech, Aaron delivers a unique sound all his own cultivated by an unrelenting passion and dedication to quality and technical mastery that has easily set him apart from the fray. 
Aaron’s distinctive sets seamlessly fuse dark and deep bass lines with sophisticated and spiritual melodies, creating a fluid storyline that transcends time and space and evokes a euphoric auditory experience into the next dimension.

Henry Pope on the Do LaB Stage Weekend Two 2019

The year was 2009, I was 18, I had just arrived on Playa for my very first time. I pulled my bike off the rack, and my veteran campmate said, “Just Go.” It took me all of 5 minutes to roll up to the greatest party I have ever seen. You know what I’m talking about. That late afternoon magic, those smiles all around, that chuggy DISTRIKT sound, that airhorn right when you think it couldn’t get any more intense, that feeling that it just can’t get any better than this. 

I was hooked. 

For 10 years I never camped out of earshot of that airhorn, as DISTRIKT became the most consistent part of my Burning Man experience (in the day time, at least). But more importantly, it became the greatest source of musical inspiration for me over those years. Over the last decade, as I changed, the playa changed, Distrikt continued to be a persistent symbol of joy and shared experience, ever-present during that week in the desert. And in many ways, it served as my true north as I grew up on the playa, both creatively and personally. I'm proud to say that I grew up on DISRIKT dancefloor.  

Opening up DISTRIKT this year held a tremendous amount of significance for me. Not only was it a 10-year-long dream of mine to play here, but this was my opportunity to give back to a place that has given me so much. So my goal was to play a set that told the story of the emotions that DISTRIKT has brought to me over the last decade: joy, familiarity, depth, and comfort to name a few. 

This set is about getting the week started right, and having a blast with your friends. By mid-way through the set, as the disco vibe picked up, every friend I had on Playa was there; my entire camp, the people I look up to, and the people that I love, all showed up. It was a heartwarming show of support that I will never forget. 

I can’t thank the DISTRIKT Team enough for having me, believing in me and inspiring me over the years, Ryan and Kramer, especially. 



A lot of dreams came true that Monday: I rang that airhorn, I closed with my own track, everybody showed up…and HOLY SHNIKEEZ...I PLAYED DISTRIKT!

Mico - DISTRIKT Music - Burning Man 2019

To be honest: quarantine has been a challenge. I've found myself going back and forth about whether I'm feeling "musical" on any particular day, struggling to find new things that inspire me, and using the many emotions this pandemic has brought up to explore new sounds and tell my story in different ways. 

But it's been positive in an unexpected way, too. I've rediscovered my love for deeper, minimal sounds and the simplicity and power that exists within them. 

This edition of my Forms | States mix comes from an afternoon I spent taking a batch of new tunes and playing them for the first time, finding a groove on the fly that spoke to me in the moment. Dive in and see how it speaks to you, too.

Torie’s sound is multifaceted – to say the least. Coming from a global upbringing and current home base in the San Francisco Bay Area, she has been curating sonic adventures as a DJ and event producer for a decade. Torie interweaves elements of breakbeats, house, minimal, dark & driving techno, garage, acid, and drum and bass – balancing a line between heavy-hitting basslines and soulful vocals with ear-catching melodies.

She believes in the power of groove and always plays with one core intention in mind: to bring newfound life to the dancefloor.
