Michael The Lion is the latest alter-ego of Philadelphia's DJ Apt One, the funky globe trotter with a long history of making cult-favorite dance-floor tunes. Known recently for his work on Soul Clap records, Michael flexes his edit skills on this one, flipping some funk on the A-side with “Any Time,” and serving up classic italo cheek with “The Don.” The B-side erupts with the disco-house-bringer-downer “Get More” and finishes smooth with a fresh take on a well-worn sample with “909s and Herb,” a co-production with Sammy Bananas, of Fool’s Gold Record fame. This milestone record is a choice celebration of the quality that the RNT label has come to personify.

@djaptone has had a killer year since unveiling his disco-tinged moniker Michael The Lion, contributing to a sold out 12" on Soul Clap Records with his track "Funk Train", releasing his own jam-packed 12" of edits on Brooklyn's Razor-N-Tape, and starting one of the city's hottest parties at new venue Franky Bradley's, HOOKED. Michael blessed the airwaves on Saturday afternoon with a slew of feel good disco vibes that you need to hear!

The 2015 Electronic Music Marathon was a 78 hour NONSTOP DJ marathon bringing together a diverse group of some of the best DJ talent in Philly to raise money for Mural Arts & WKDU. Strange Danger

"Philadelphia Maneto," the city of Philadelphia's motto, translates as "Let Brotherly Love Endure." In this spirit of togetherness, Young Robots label chief DJ Apt One curates a compilation of the Philadelphia and New Jersey area's eclectic and talented underground electronic and dance acts. From established acts Pink Skull and Todd Edwards (Daft Punk collaborator and half of Lux & Edwards) to local favorite DJs Billy W and Shawn Ryan (half of Superprince) to indie dance bands Nicos Gun and The Downtown Club, this record shows the depth and diversity of the scene. DJ Apt One remixes three live acts on the compilation, with an assist on the saxophone from his frequent collaborator, Fools Gold's Sammy Bananas. Instamatic, SAUR (My Techno Ways A Ton), aupl and mysterious house guru NITEWAX round out the record.

The tracks by Nicos Gun, The Downtown Club and Instamatic and their respective remixes by DJ Apt One will appear on a limited run vinyl release available in the Philadelphia area this summer and digitally via turntablelab.com.

Philadelphia's premier listener-supported radio station, WXPN FM, will co-sponsor the digital release, which will be available for free as well as through all Young Robots' usual digital sales outlets.

The release of the compilation will coincide with a July 18th concert on Philadelphia's Race Street Pier and a subsequent afterparty, featuring acts from Philadelphia Maneto.
