On 25 April 1996, I conducted my first official on the record interview with a pop star: Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys. Neil had called me from his home in Chelsea, ostensibly to discuss the PSB's latest disco diva, David Bowie. This is a mini morsel of the 90 minute chat, leading up to a controversial remark Neil relayed Bowie making about Michael Jackson as they watched MJ's Brits rehearsal together. 

The comment will be published exclusively in a book project later in 2021 which covers David Bowie in the 1990s.

The song Heat is from the EP Trilogy: Flesh Trash Heat, released on April 5 2024.

Trilogy was inspired by the underground film trilogy FLESH/TRASH/HEAT, produced by Andy Warhol in his famous Factory between 1968 and 1972. All three films were directed by Paul Morrissey and had Joe Dallesandro in the leading role.

Trilogy was conceived as an homage to Andy Warhol, to the Factory, to art and to the era around the end of the 60s and the beginning of the 70s, but also to the city of New York then and now. Over 50 years ago, it was a time of upheaval (isn't it always?), insecurity, sexual revolution, war, rebellion, experimentation with drugs, (then) new technologies and so much more. With all its beautiful but also dark sides. And actually, not so much different from today,
The songs on Trilogy are intended to work both in conjunction with the films and the era, but also completely independently of them.

Your Funny Uncle is electronic music based on synthesizers, sequencers, drum machines, vocals and vocoders. It is electroArtPop!

The artist behind Your Funny Uncle is Vinnie Albani, who was born in Basel, Switzerland, and lives in Zurich since 2005. He has always been fascinated by synthesizers and is inspired by artists such as Vince Clarke, The Human League, Martyn Ware, Soft Cell, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk, Jean-Michel Jarre, Anne Clark, OMD, Marsheaux, LCD Soundsystem or Pet Shop Boys. Actually, a Pet Shop Boys song inspired the projects name Your Funny Uncle.

During the 90s, Vinnie Albani had a musical project called Vision. After that, he formed the synth pop duo This Play in 1997. The critically acclaimed CD 'Popcorn' and several live gigs followed. Their last release was the song ‘Monster’ in 2010 with an arty music video for YouTube. Since 2012, Vinnie is working as a solo artist again. He officially started releasing material under the name Your Funny Uncle in 2019.

With Your Funny Uncle, Vinnie Albani proves his passion for electronic (dance) music and his sense for solid synth- and electropop. Your Funny Uncle celebrates and stands for diversity, freedom, respect, positivity, queerness and a positive attitude to life in general.
