Amongst those in the know, Elnur Yagubov (who DJs and produces solely as ‘Elnur’) is one of Ukraine’s most discerning DJs. Now based in Germany, Elnur is best known for his work as part of the Sure collective, a group of local DJs who are known for digging deep and unearthing great treasures as they do so. Though they’ve hosted foreign talents in the past, Sure is mostly a family affair, with its local residents very much the start of the show. Highly recommended by Olga Korol (who we’re hosting a mix from soon), we’re really delighted to host Elnur’s mix.

Ears Wide Open is my call for you to come wander open-heartedly into the endless realm of beats and melodies I dig, mostly – but not limited to – electronic, No boundaries or preconceptions, just all that music I wanted to share with the world, but I didn’t have the chance yet.

I grew up listening to the radio or better said, the radio grew me musically, infected me with a visceral need to select the music I loved and tape it on cassettes. Later on, I started to buy vinyl and play them to the people at parties. Ears Wide Open triggers a new dimension of what DJing means for me. Tune in and enjoy!

Having previously released three critically acclaimed Secretsundaze mix comps, DANCE 2017 is the first label compilation, representing an exciting new chapter for the label. The artwork and name 'DANCE 2017' is a reference to the feel of pioneering late 80s and early 90s house and techno compilations. The comp is delivered in a non-mixed format as well as a mixed format, with the duo mixing it live at The Pickle Factory, where the pair hold their monthly Secretsundaze - All Night Long residency, playing 8 hour sets each month.

We are very proud to present the legendary Rick Wade into the Your Only Friend Family, with the “Harlem Funk” EP and a battery of hot remixes of the title track. We start this one off with the smooth and moody Original track in pure Rick Wade fashion. A steady truckin’ beat takes you in and out through a wave of straight up groove.Next up is Your Only Friend’s F.U.N.K. Remix where they twist up the original, drop in some heavy spoken vocals, and truly funk it up! A bouncy bass line and plenty of surprises to be found in this mix. Your Only Friend’s Chicago Funk Remix takes another turn on the original and busts out a Beatdown tribute to the motherland of House, Chicago. YOF style loops make for a moody and hypnotizing remix. Last Mood’s Remix is next and delivers us a proper underground track. Devastating bassline and driving beats give the track and old school edge that’s hard not to love. Rounding up this remix package is the Aiby & The Noise Remix and Bonus Beats. The Remix brings the vibe up for some serious dance floor action. Funky drummer beats play perfectly into the whole EP’s concept. The duo keeps it fun with a bumpy bass line and diverse breaks. The Bonus Beats strips it down for a DJ tool that is tons of fun to mix.

Connecting the dots between the US’s and the UK’s early house and techno scenes and the more contemporary sounds of today’s dance floors, Your Only Friend is a DJ and Production Duo formed by longtime friends and collaborators Tres Manos and Steve Ferrand. Based in the thriving party Mecca of Barcelona, they are at the forefront of a new wave of artists blurring lines between genres and bringing diverse crowds together.

Both DJ’s have long histories as individual artists; Steve was a fixture on the UK’s free party and festival scene and Tres was a pioneer in the US’s club and warehouse scene. They would both eventually relocate to sunny Barcelona, where they met and began collaborating in 2005. Bonding over a mutual love of the underground music scene, they became among the most respected DJs and producers in the city.

As individual artists, both went on to put out releases on prominent labels Urban Torque, Dessous, Pack Up And Dance, Detour, Om Records, Justified Cause, and many more. As they became more and more well known in their scene, they teamed up to form the group Your Only Friend and the label of the same name to share their love of underground house and techno and help expose their favourite up and coming artists to a wider audience. The label featured releases and remixes from artists Joshua IZ, James Flavour, Rick Wade, Lady Blacktronika, Last Mood, and many more. Support from DJs and producers like Laurent Garnier, Tony Humphries, Funk D’Void, Andy Cato (Groove Armada) and Luke Soloman helped them establish an international presence.

In the ten years since their founding, Your Only Friend has gone on to became an institution. Both members have had successful solo projects, with Steve’s project ‘The Groovers’ scoring a hit on Brooklyn’s notorious Razor’N’Tape label with “Where You Belong,” as well as appearances on labels like Silver Network, Deep&Disco and Editorial, and Tres maintaining residencies at Zoo Project in Ibiza and Davide Squillace’s This And That Parties as well as collaborations with some of the musicians who inspired him in the first place, including remixes for Chicago legends Derrick Carter and Johnny Fiasco.

As they celebrate their ten year anniversary, look out for fresh music and lots more performances from the duo as they look forward to another decade of making people dance!
