I wrote this the night John Lennon was murdered. I lived in Massachusetts and I was watching the pathetic Patriots when I heard. Like the rest of the world I was in shock. I used two songs he cowrote with Paul McCartney and John's wife Yoko Ono as lead into my song and then at the end.

[1. Akt – Die Erscheinung]
Ich träumte im Schatten leerer Bahnen,
wo einst Kinder und Senioren schwammen.
Da tauchte auf – mit warmem Lächeln –
ein Mann, der Zukunft in die Luft versprühte.
Er trug Visionen, schön verpackt,
aus Broschüren und Modellen –
und sprach vom Schatz aus heißem Wasser,
als wär’s ein Quell für unser Seelenheil.
„Ich bau euch eine Wunderwelt,
aus Holz, aus Dampf, aus Gastronomie!
Ihr zahlt, ich lenke – und wenn’s nicht klappt,

doch dieses wird mit Glanz bedacht.
Ein Mantelgang zum Kurhotel,
das klingt nach Luxus und Genie.
Schulkinder plantschen nirgendwo -
ohne Lobby – Investitionsstrategie.

Und alle träumen von Touristen,
die den Kurort überfluten.
Vielleicht kommt einer mal im Juni,
verirrt sich zwischen Wellnessrouten.
Doch bis dahin baut man Träume –
mit Schulden – ohne Fundament.
Denn wer das schönste Schloss erfindet,
plant ohne Keller konsequent.

[4. Akt – Der Abgesang]
Dann ist er weg, der Mann mit Glanz,
die Messe ist gelesen, rumms.
Ein Schild verspricht: „Hier wächst was Großes“,
doch keiner weiß mehr was.
Die Fenster blind, das Wasser fehlt,
das Unkraut sprießt, der Traum verblasst.
Man hört noch leise Stimmen sagen:
„Das war doch alles nur ein Spaß.“

Und alle träumen von Touristen,
die den Wandel sicher bringen.
Doch was in bunten Plänen glänzt,
wird selten Wirklichkeit durchs Singen.
Denn wo man Schlösser baut auf Sand,
und Zweifel still im Schrank versteckt –
da bleiben am Ende viele Fragen
zu dem, was keiner je verstand.
