PIANOMAN - From '90s Dance Icon to 2025 House Visionary
Most music fans recognize the name PIANOMAN from the iconic '90s dance anthem "BLURRED" – the genre-defining track that brilliantly sampled Damon Albarn's vocal from Blur's "Girls And Boys," becoming a staple of the era's rave culture.
For those immersed in the '90s dance scene, PIANOMAN's legacy extends far beyond that breakthrough hit. Tracks such as "Cast A Spell" and "Whitney Tune" cemented James's reputation as one of the decade's most innovative producers, leading to major label deals with Ministry Of Sound, Universal Music, Armada Music, Trick Records, and Storm Music, among others.
What remains lesser known is James's extensive career as a lyricist and songwriter spanning over three decades since 1991. Behind the scenes, he has crafted songs for numerous artists and vocalists across multiple dance genres, writing authentic narratives about life, love, and the human experiences that connect us all. His compositions draw from personal truth – when it happened to him, it has happened to others – creating an emotional resonance that transcends the dancefloor.
"Shine For You" exemplifies this deeply personal approach showcasing his evolution from sample-based production to emotionally driven original song writing.
With this new direction, PIANOMAN has signalled a creative renaissance – leaving behind the legacy of his sample-based classics to forge a new path with original house anthems crafted for 2025 and beyond. The icon returns, not to recreate the past, but to define the future of house music.

As the lines between the various art forms (film, television, music and the visual arts) seem to wobble and blur, we begin to focus our attention to those who can cross those imaginary boundaries with ease – and Vicky-T is clearly one such artist.  Her skills and passions extend over the arts as a whole and some explanation for this can be found in her multi-national and artistically broad background. 

after being in & touring the world with multi-platinum pop band cobra starship for 10 years, Victoria has now proudly announced her first solo music venture .  With an EP in the works, she has just released her first single “Protect This Love”, a hyper-catchy blend of danceable synth pop and the skill and emotion of the modern singer-songwriter.  There is of course (as one would expect) a highly entertaining and startling self-directed video to accompany the single.

As Victoria throws her energy into not only this new music but into so many other varied creative ventures with her wide circle of friends, we can look forward to more surprises, more hits and a further breaking-down of traditional boundaries.

Vicky-T (born Victoria Asher) grew up in a highly creative environment with her father, multiple-Grammy-winning producer/manager/musician Peter Asher, and mother Wendy Worth, an art collector and curator who is featured in the Oscar-nominated documentary, “Exit Through the Gift Shop”. Half English and half American, growing up steeped in music, books, films and painting Victoria has enjoyed a varied and exciting creative life thus far, defying definition and description .

She studied film at Tisch at NYU and got to work with directors like Michel Gondry and Terry Gilliam while she was there.  She joined the band Cobra Starship (singing and playing keytar) and enjoyed several years of successful recording and touring.  She directed several videos for the band and also worked with director Thomas Cobb in creating the highly-lauded title sequence for “Orange is the New Black” and sang backup on a couple of successful records for other artists (varying from Miguel to Steve Martin & Edie Brickell!) among numerous other video and musical projects.

I have done hundreds of edit’s, remixes, mixed tapes and quite a lot of originals over the years. Will try and get a lot of it up on this site.
Started DJ’ing in the early 80’s during the New Wave era, was more of a fan of electronic music and a mad collector of the 12” single. Did cut my teeth playing disco and funk at older age venues. Started pushing house music with a lot of resistance from club’s etc., just after the mid 80’s, had all the original labels, Trax, DJ international etc… I did have my way; around 87’ it all really took off and I had around five unbelievably amazing years playing in huge clubs. I was very generous with my time; I trained and started off a lot of DJ’s.
Got fed up with the whole DJ thing in the early 90’s, the scene really changed from the club environment that I was quite comfortable in. The drug’s took over, rave, grunge and indie music (you had to become genre’ specific), scary personalities and any young pup could grab a handful of CD’s give them selves a funny name and become an instant DJ.
I sold a lot of my equipment to buy a very expensive Apple Mac that could do 4 tracks of audio and trigger external midi gear so I could make my own remixes. Started doing stuff for ACE remixes in Melbourne and Hotracks in the US.
I started doing a bit of editing for studios, dancers, anyone that needed something chopped up and built up this reputation of being this ‘computer guy’, this was at a time when the belief was ‘there would never be a place for computers in the recording studio’. As we know now that is not the case.
Not being a musician made life hard for me initially and I was treated with a lot of contempt buy most ‘Musicians’. So I bought a cheap guitar, a friend taught me to play a few simple songs, so I started to collect synths and studio gear. Even though now I just use a computer, midi keyboard and the old NS10’s.
Ironically after doing all this production and stuff, I seem to like writing really simple pop songs on the guitar. But if I had just starting playing guitar at an early age, I wouldn’t have heard all this music and may have given up like 99.9% of musicians do. At heart I'm still a DJ, even though I haven't seriously done it for over twenty years.
