This selection represents the very first official compilation 
of rominimal music ever released on CD and it is a beautiful project 
whose main purpose is to promote the music we love and the kind of 
work we do in this field as a label. 
     The name TELURIAN comes from tellurium, as a tribute to its origin. 
      We are fascinated by its history, background, name, etymology, structure, 
uniqueness, sparkling, properties, utilities and scarcity - 
this way Telurian was born!
       The tracklist includes all the artists of our agency plus 
a few special guests who we appreciate and with whom we have a long and 
lucrative colaboration. We have tried to cover all the sub-styles and trends 
in the rominimal scene nowadays and to deliver the highest level in music 
and artwork - we hope you’ll love it!

Ortophonic Victrola is the name of the first consumer phonograph designed specifically to play electrically recorded phonograph records, presented to the public in 1925 and invented by the Western Electric. More recently, some of you surely use a “Ortofon” stylus on your MK2  but never wondered what are the roots of the name. Last on this list is the above track from Priest, who starts tempting but then really becomes catchy after three minutes, making you long for an extended version.

Born in Bacau and a former resident in Zebra Club, Vincentiulian is also a veteran of the scene who had experienced electronic music in many ways until he found his own. If you listen any of his recent works, one can easily notice the difference, with songs much more experimental, with intriguing yet fitting influences from jazz or dub or classics, but always smooth and clever, relaxing and moody, regardless of the tempo or beat.

It’s been long since Bryz was a rising star as he is now a fully established powerhouse in the rominimal scene, both as DJ and producer, with countless productions as well as live appereances. “Symmetrical” is flowing on two levels, with a percussive beats driving through like a galloping horse and a series of big pipe sounds recorded by the artist himself in his father’s courtyard, by the fountain (yes!), perfectly guiding the rhythm.

HIPP - Elsewhere (snippet)

If rominimal would have been around by the time of Twin Peaks, this track could have easily been the soundtrack of that tv-serie because it has a big amount of suspense and it sounds like a a Badalamenti work remixed by Zamfir. The later represents the new generation from the neverending school of Bacau and he comes on Telurian with his homework done. Great job!

VLF is a very prolific artist – DJ and producer - so you may find his music published in different parts of the world. Latest release of VLF in 2020 was this track on Telurian that sounds much more progressive than his usual work - yet still exploring - but very balanced and persuasive due to a hypnotic bass line.

Rough Cells

VLF - Rough Cells (snippet)

The third and last collabo on Telurian comes from Brasov where Mihai Pol and Mera joined forces for a walk in the forests of sounds sourounding their gorgeous city and gave us “White rainbow”. There is a feeling of rain in the beginning well hidden behind a funky yet dark bass but they managed to turn everything in a waterfall of lights, colors and sounds using a smart reverb and a subversive beat.

Calinie represents the new wave of rominimal and one can sense that in the melodic approach of the sound  as well as in the groovy architecture of the rhythm. Modern and exuberant yet minimal, the present track is catchy from start to end but the brilliant use of the Nokia-like sample is the true generator of hype, teasing you to the maximum in the first half and the letting you explode on the dancefloor.

Shadows

BUCURIE - Shadows (snippet)

Nea Marin is one of the five monikers that Rhadoo is using as a producer, each one expanding,  with its own particularities and reasons, any possible borders of electronic music. “Nisipari” opens the second CD of Telurian and one has to know the meaning of the title in order to begin to understand the innovative sound of this track, and that’s not an easy thing since the word itself is untranslatable but nonetheless the root word is “nisip” which translates as “sand”, hence the ubiquitous and everflowing grainy sound of the track. On top of this, there is a half breakbeat, an Interstellar-like noise and a hypnotic sinth – that’s all the artist needs to deliver a masterpiece of experimental electronic music made in Romania.
