On Friday 6th June, the Dutch drum & bass producer, Lenzman, will toast the release of his Looking At The Stars album live in Room One. Released on Goldie’s inimitable Metalheadz label the fifteen track long player explores the Amsterdam based maestro’s brew of overtly musical, soulful blend of d&b. Saying “I wanted this album to be personal more than anything,” Lenzman’s certainly created a balanced album that fully reflects the spectrum of human emotion, [as the press release puts it] “from introspection to confidence and doubt”.

We’ll be catching up with Lenzman in depth and proper next week, but for now he’s pre-empted the interview, his album and the launch party by bestowing on us a 33 minute mix that includes and highlights the potency of a few upcoming cuts from Looking At The Stars…

Solid Steel in association with Serato (10th July) In Hour 2 it's the turn of Earl Jeffers who has been dishing out quality releases for the last few years, including 'The Goose', which gets a reissue with a bonus track on his own Melange record label next week (after prices on Discogs started escalating for the original 12"). The quality throughout his mix is also high, featuring music from Rick Wilhite, Makam, Theo Parrish and Roy Davis Jr, plus edits by Flaunt Edwards on Was Not Was and Borrowed Identity on Christy Essien. He had this to say about his mix;
'This mix steers more towards the instrumental/dub side of house with very little vocal ha (sorry vocal lovers). Still it has plenty of Soul and rawness in there. Hope you like it.

The podcast is the full recording of the 3-hour openingsset he played during our TivoliVredenburg party last December. Covering ground from disco and the lighter side of house to techno and the rawer side of house music the set proves an excellent showcase of Elias's talent.

“We are very happy to share this recording of our opening set at Chalet Berlin on the New Years Day of 2016 with you all. It was the fourth gig on our 50+ hour NYE marathon session and we started spinning straight after arriving in Berlin. Sometimes when you push yourself past the moment of physical exhaustion something interesting happens. You stop thinking about stuff and switch to your auto pilot, a more natural state of mind where you open yourself up to the music and allow your thoughts to float away with the sound. This was exactly what happened in Berlin. Listen to how we carefully warm up the club and rejuvenate ourselves with some of our favourite downtempo and house tracks, slowly getting back into the party mode. Our thanks go out to Maralina and crew at Chalet, Stijn, Glenn and crew at ZeeZout, all the party people that joined us during the NYE marathon and offcourse you for listening. Larry Heard (born 1960) is a musician widely known for the Chicago house music he produced in the mid-1980s and continues to produce today. He was a member of the influential group Fingers, Inc. and has recorded solo under various names, most notably Mr. Fingers. His smooth production style with soulful vocals and long instrumental passages that de-emphasized percussion spearheaded the subgenre known as deep house. One of his first releases was a collaboration with singer Robert Owens, released under the group name ‘Fingers Inc.’. The song ‘Mystery of Love’ instantly became a classic hit, rising to #10 on the Billboard Dance charts. Larry Heard's musical influence can be heard in the songs of countless artists. For those who appreciate warm and passionate compositions, Larry's music is pure magic. He has been blessed with a unique gift that sends listeners into a blissful euphoric state.
