A vibrant kaleidoscope of sound, colour and emotion, British multi-hyphenate James Alexander Bright’s songs soundtrack fertile daydreams, esoteric dancefloors, languorous reflection, and wild excursions in nature and beyond. His voice, pitched somewhere between Eddie Chacon, Beck and Michael McDonald, is an immediately recognisable signature while impressive multi-instrumentalism sees him perform on guitar, keys, programming, percussion, production and myriad quirky effects.

The past six years has seen James release a veritable treasure trove of music: ‘Mallorca’ and ‘Strange Folk’ EPs, debut album ‘Headroom’, joyous second ‘Float’, an album of collaborations and reworks with cosmic Americana-disco DJ/producer duo Flying Mojito Bros, and a new project with Groove Armada’s Tom Findlay as Bright & Findlay. 

James’ music making is commonly a family affair. Although initially written and recorded at his home studio in the rolling hills of the Hampshire countryside, his tracks involve regular collaborator Peter Lyons in East London alongside old friends and new to contribute vocals (Kerry Leatham and Katharine Alice) and drums (Gillan McLaughlin and Joris Feiertag). He has also collaborated with Letherette, Daudi Matsiko, Fink, Fred Everything, Scrimshire and contributed three songs to Groove Armada’s ‘Edge Of The Horizon’ album 

James balances music alongside the creative duality of a job in illustration and the responsibilities and constraints that come with raising a young family. Utilising any spare moment to write and record new ideas, his creative output under various projects had been relentless. Turning his back on apathetic major label offers in his early 20s, he’s released through cult DIY label Tape Club Records, German stalwart !K7 Music and now with Scottish tastemaker Athens Of The North, presenting an evolving vision of a sound that has touched on everything from outsider art-rock to machine funk, mystic folk to experimental jazz.

His music has been played across BBC Radio, Amazing Radio, Bandcamp Weekly, FIP Radio France, NTS, KCRW, Soho Radio, Triple J, and Worldwide FM.

Established in Brighton after a chance meeting in Vietnam, The Mariner’s Children are an English alternative folk band, consisting of Benedict Rubinstein (vocals, guitar, banjo), Daniel Matthews (guitar, banjo, mandolin), Emma Gatrill (vocals, accordion, glockenspiel), Marcus Hamblett (bass, banjo), Emma Kraemer (violin), Becca Mears (cello), and Felix Weldon (drums). With colliding guitar duels and soaring strings, The Mariner's Children make a type of music that is cinematic, pastoral, and entirely their own. Described by The Guardian as creators of something with "the visceral attack of rock and the rhythmic propulsion and thrilling momentum of dance", their songs build from the sparse, delicate understatement of the likes of Iron & Wine and Pentangle into huge, encompassing Arcade Fire-like walls of sound, providing the perfect foil to the troubled romanticism of Rubinstein's lyrics. As an ensemble of multi-instrumentalists, they have formerly lent their individual talents to such acts as Laura Marling, Alessi's Ark, Broken Social Scene, and Peggy Sue, but the group are now poised to make their collective mark with their own project.

Whilst this year has already seen them tour the UK and Ireland extensively with American troubadour Willy Mason, the band will be hitting the road again in November with Bear's Den (Communion) fresh off their breakout US tour. Following on from two critically-acclaimed EPs, early 2014 will see the release of The Mariner's Children's much-anticipated debut album, "Over My Body, Roses They Rise". Shortly thereafter, the band is set to embark on their inaugural North American tour.

Producing Electronic music since 1996, originally as 'Artwhore' (with Bob Burroughs)and later as 'Four Hands'  a collaborative project with Laura Reid, Gayle Hutchinson & Burroughs.

Now working  under my own name, and on collaborative project with Laura Reid, Suade and Mark Hand  (Bathhouse LP  on Firecracker Records).

Benedict Benjamin is Ben Rubinstein, formerly of The Mariner’s Children and Peggy Sue(Wichita). His third album ‘Tunnel’ is a collection of sixties influenced psychedlic folk rock that mixes samples and live instrumentation to create a sound that feels both old and new.

After touring his second album with a band the pandemic happened. Deprived of collaborators, Ben adopted very different methods of writing and arranging to those used in his previous work, sampling and editing drum solos from old jazz records to create rhythm tracks then writing from there. The result is a rhythmically dynamic record that pulls in elements of psychedelic rock, folk, jazz and electronic music.

The Fucks are Jemma Freeman and George Lionel Barker. They formed at Art School in Kingston. They have performed both nationally and internationally, and have released a series of limited edition Eps and singles through The Angular recording Company.
 Jemma Freeman is guitarist and bass player in Bella Union band Landshapes and can also be found performing with the improvisational collective Solus 3.
George Lionel Barker is co-founder of the George and Jorgen Gallery and can be seen performing as part of Bob and Roberta Smiths Apathy Band, he can also be found playing bass or occasionally drums for The Ken Ardley Playboys.
The Fucks recently performed as part of the Bob and Roberta Smith show The Art Party Conference 2013 in Scarborough.
Landshapes drummer Dan Blackett has recently joined The Fucks for their live shows, adding an exciting new wave kraut rock edge.
