this is the 3rd in a series of mixes called 'trust me i was there' - music that i was playing and listening to - this time its all from 1989, and as i was buying more music by this time there will be 3 hour long mixes for '89. 
by 1989 i'd left school and was working 9-5 then spending all my other time listening to pirates and buying music. i didn't have enough money for turntables at this point so i used to chop up tracks using a crappy home hifi using the pause button. luckily nowadays i have turntables :D

trust me i was there chapter 3 1989 pt1

DJ Intersect brings 30 or so years of musical expression to his bi-weekly radio show on Jungletrain. As a South London native, direct access to early 90's formative raves such as Innersense at Laserdrome and then on to World Dance at Lydd Airport and places like The Rocket,  The Roller Express and the quintessential club experiences of The Paradise Club and Orange enabled Intersect to navigate the curious sounds of emerging breakbeat culture first-hand as it developed. Finding his musical interests aligned with the darker, no-fluff vibes of Laserdrome, Intersect along with his brother, DJ Prestige, opened the record shop White Label Records on Camberwell Road in 1995 to promote the culture. 

Influences throughout the years include Fabio, Randall, LTJ Bukem, Doc Scott, DJ Ratty, Kemistry & Storm, Equinox, Grooverider, DJ Lee, DJ Trace, Ed Rush, Bizzy B and more. 

When Intersect isn't chopping it up on Jungletrain, you can find him supporting the London-based Diggin in the Crates collective.
