"Instead of doing yet another promo mix that incorporates a song or two from our new album, I thought it would be fun for me & Phill to each do a 30 minute mix of Hip Hop from our respective areas. I'm from Southampton, and since that's not a very big place I thought it would be more fitting to play some of my favourite old UK Hip Hop records. Philadelphia always had a healthy Hip Hop scene that boasted famous artists such as DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince, Cash Money & Marvelous and Steady B just to name a few. Solid Steel Radio Show 8/11/2013 Part 3 + 4 - Phill Most Chill + DJ Format

This is the first of our new monthly label mix series, to showcase upcoming talent on Dispatch.

Two of the finest US exports, Quadrant & Iris are the first to step up to the controls. 

Picking up combined releases on labels such as Metalheadz, Hospital and Renegade Hardware, they recently released their first tracks on Dispatch.

Both their Dispatch LTD release with Kid Hops "Convergence / Borealis" received numerous praises throughout the scene and their huge collaboration with Hybris & D-Struct "Graphene" has seen already seen incredible support, as part of the Transit 2 album sampler.

this is the second mix in a series 'trust me i was there' - the music in this mix is what was getting played in the places with a more relaxed door policy (places that would let in 15-16 year olds) and on the london pirate dance radio stations in 1988.

one thing i find interesting about this year (as a producer) is the contrast between the really raw acid stuff and the super slick vocal tracks - one of which was exec produced by quincy jones no less!!

With support from MK, The Magician, Bondax and the French Express crew, Australian house producer Lancelot has stealthily built up a name as one of his country's hottest talents - even being named by Mixmag as one to watch for 2014. 

Lancelot now presents his debut release on Anjunadeep - the label that has nurtured talents such as Dusky - which sees him collaborate with exciting new act Antony & Cleopatra on two vibrant pieces of contemporary house music. Givin’ It Up builds from soft pads into an infectious slab of piano house with a infectious bass groove, whilst the two vocalists, Alex Burnett of Sparkadia, and Anita Blay of CocknBullKid, go back and forth on clandestine vocals.

Givin’ It Up is already getting attention from the right people, including T.Williams, Tensnake, Perseus and man of the hour, MK, who loved the track so much that he found time in his hectic schedule to turn out a remix. Expect that one in February.

by 1989 i'd left school and was working 9-5 then spending all my other time listening to pirates and buying music. i didn't have enough money for turntables at this point so i used to chop up tracks using a crappy home hifi using the pause button. luckily nowadays i have turntables :D
