Ambience of Pond at Hranice u Malče (Vysočina region). During a windy day a scarecrow near the pond had something to say. Not mentioning the carp that wanted to eat my hydrophone... Recorded during Kra Residency in August 2017.

I fell in love with molasses storage tank during our stay in Vysočina. I try to use it as an echo chamber, trying different types of sticks and mallets. In the end the best result I got during small percussive improvisation using only bare hands. Recorded during Kra Residency 2017.

First version of track made entirely from sound of flying bees and metal barrels played by various types of sticks and mallets. Then some heavy DAW processing came into game....to be continued!

Abstract soundscape made for Tereza Kerle's performance at Crossings Festival 2017 in Prague. Track contains various field recordings made at place of festival together with Tereza's voice  providing the narrative lines.

In 2017 we stayed at Kra Residency at Vysočina region. We did a lot of field recording there and also photography and video of landscapes and objects while wandering through the countryside. The inspiration for this track comes from that time - Tomáš used to wake up early with our newborn daughter so he often witnessed the magical time before sunrise. This track is dedicated to this otherwordly time when night is almost over and the light haven't come yet.

Season of Mist

One night during Kra Residency at Vysočina region I went to the old barn and tried to record some interesting percussion sounds for Tereza's dance performance as Queen Bee. I ended up with recording metal barrels played with various mallets/brushes, old metal lamp, wooden table a some other objects. This track consists mainly from these recorded sounds and rhytmical patterns. And of course sound of flying bees...

This track was originally written for gallery opening exhibition "Voňavost žluté růže" at Východočeská galerie v Pardubiciích (VCG). Originally it accompanied site-specific performance by Tereza Kerle, which was accenting topics of birth, fragility, destiny and decay/death.

Breathing The Rose

This track was the closing piece for the performance “The Sign” which took place at Nábřeží umělců 2019 festival in Hradec Králové. 

The main theme of the performance was the idea of eco cultural collapse which eventually leads to scarcity of water resources. By revealing the sensitivity and intelligence of nature, our senses are pulled out of the usual way of seeing and hearing. 

Face to face to our fate as mankind we adapt new strategies that help us survive and regain some stability in our shaken world, some of them of practical/economic and some of them of mythical/mystical nature. 

Now in the Coronavirus time these strategies/revelations are needed more than ever..something old ends something new begins…and the wheel keeps on turning.

The Sign

Take your time and enjoy this unique sonic journey that accompanied our site-specific performance! Performed and recorded live at festival Plíce Žižkova which was held at various sites at one of the most interesting districts in Prague. This performance took place at Žižkov Highline, a sort of hidden path that connects two different areas of the district.

Themes: reconnecting with the "spirits" of the place, geometrical shaping and visual reshaping, metamorphosis of organic elements.

This performance is meant to be a "prologue" to bigger piece that will happen in September 2020.

Staging the Plants (Prologue) - Live at Žižkov Highline

This track was originaly made for video trailer for our last site-specific performance Staging the Plants (pt.2), which took place at Prague's Žižkov Highine at the end of September 2020. It uses the sounds and themes that accompanied performers during the show.

Manhattan’s High Line, a 1.45-mile length
Žižkov High Line, ???

The principles and philosophy of world-famous garden designer Piet Oudolf in the context of Prague and its climate.

Following her search for extraordinary beauty in plants, their textures and changes throughout the seasons, Tereza Kerle created a multi-layered site-specific performance whose main actors are the plants themselves, creating – in the style of the Dutch new wave but with regard to local conditions – a “Žižkov highline”. These natural shapes and textures, as well as their sustainability, remind us of the wildness of prairies, meadows and plains.

The choreography respects the theme and creates a new layer of events in the site.

Adaptability. The existence of the unit in the wider whole. The cycle and cycles in which the plant resembles the cycle of human life, only repeating year after year. Disintegration, transformation and the subsequent renewal. Everything the plant takes from the soil, it always returns to it. It dies every year and is reborn in its ashes in the spring.

Staging The Plants (pt.2)

Zóna is the artistic project of site-specific performer Tereza Kerle and musician/music producer Tomáš Kerle.  Zóna is focusing mainly on site-specific projects and live shows. 

Zóna is an open platform for collaboration with other artists working with sonic and visual elements.

Zóna means danger and fascination at the same time, it represents world without end.

We draw our inspiration from many directions but the main impulse comes from wandering and exploration of different landscapes, both natural and urban. At every place we are present with our body, mind, spirit and our dreams. 

The Vision is to create deep and immersive experience that takes the audience with us on the journey. 

In our recent projects we incorporate performance, live instruments, field-recordings, electronic processing and abstract visuals.
