We're very excited to announce our first international release and welcome Static Structure to the family! Based in Brisbane, the music producer is originally from Glasgow where he became involved in the early Hip-Hop, Dub, Hardcore and Jungle scenes in the first part of
the 90's. These bass-heavy broken beats laid the foundations for a lifetime obsession with music and soundsystem culture. Their influences resonate through his unique production style to this day.

Static Structures goes all out with Duck & Cover EP, discharging four weapons designed to tear up dancefloors around the globe. Catalogued as ND007, this release showcases his versatility in the 160 range, bringing heavyweight basslines, frenzied breaks, dreamy pads, rave stabs and chopped-up vocals of varying flavours. An EP that reflects his passion for music and contemporary approach to the Hardcore / Jungle sound.

On our third-year anniversary, we are stoked to launch ‘Yellow Island Various Artists 2021’. The compilation brings new faces to the label and features artists from different countries around the world, allowing each artist to express their own essence.

This V/A showcases experimental sounds, with 20 tracks that flow through the genres of house, lo-fi, electro, IDM, breaks and jungle.

Hot on the heels of two wicked releases on Lobster Theremin and SITU Records, London based producer Kempston Hardwick readies 4 bubbling cuts of summer jams with all the zesty twists of an ice cold radler on Distant Horizons.

Whilst his last releases on LT took a more UK-centred sound approach, DISTANT005 has you jumping on the first plane out of London and onto a white, sandy beach somewhere in the South Pacific. The skippy, bright beats of ‘Step With Me’ raise the curtain before the sounds of thes streets of Chicago take over on ‘Roxy’s Party’ - a classic cut of contemporary house that lends from the past while keeping one eye firmly fixated on the future.

‘Leonila’ sees Kempston take on a more experimental aesthetic; tribal drum patterns and vocal samples blend with bending synthwork and and the inspired calm that can only come from the sound of wooden instruments.

Bowing us out is ‘Cascade’, the most quintessential Kempston track on there; his distinctive take on house shining across five minutes of late-night grooves.

Joe Koshin makes his debut on Buried Records with his new EP ‘Inside’. Originally from Yorkshire, Joe’s introduction to dance music was forged in the North-east’s lively dance scene. This is where the sounds of Dubstep and Drum & Bass first piqued his interest in Electronic music. Currently based in London, he has developed his style in the renowned dance culture of the capital, elements of Breakbeat, Electro and Garage began to feature more prominently in his musical output. Rinse FM, Balamii, Planetaria Soundsystem, Childsplay and 199 have supported Koshin’s recent releases.

With all three tracks from the album being made during the pandemic, eerie tones can be heard throughout the EP reflecting the struggles we have all faced recently. Joe explains ‘I got myself into a pretty deep creative rut, and my output was at a real low'. With this lack of motivation, he struggled to make time for music and even considered throwing in the towel.

‘Inside’ was the first track that shifted his musical outlook and brought back the creative spark missing over those difficult months. The opening track brings together floaty vocals, raw Breakbeat and unapologetic bass that injects energy into the EP from the get-go. ‘Storm Dub’ was initially crafted to a Minimal 2-Step sound, but with time evolved into what Joe describes as a ‘Garage-meets-Ghetto’ hybrid. The final track ‘There’s Nothing’ pays homage to the Brazilian music Joe discovered during the lockdown. Clever sampling fuses cultural influence with his fierce sound seamlessly and is the hidden gem within this release.

After temporarily adjusting to life indoors, ‘Inside’ offers a glimpse to the light at the end of the tunnel, when club doors reopen and movement can be witnessed on dance floors once more.
