Journeying through the intersections of UKG and house, Smokey Bubblin’ B is consistently responsible for bringing out stellar underground dance tracks. Previously making outings on Conducta’s Kiwi Rekords, Low Steppa’s Simma Black, his latest offering is a self-released record, and his second jungle release to date. The two-tracked ‘Elysium/Special’ makes use of those old skool flavours, and has already been picked up by the likes of Flava D, Emerald, Redlight, DJ Zinc and Heartless Crew. We’re premiering the latter, ‘Special’, below – which makes use of nostalgic live jungle MC snippets and an irresistible R&B vocal before blowing out in proper clattering drum business. “This is possibly my favourite track I’ve created to date!” Smokey Bubblin’ B says. “It encapsulates everything I think a jungle track is and should be…”

We're very excited to announce our first international release and welcome Static Structure to the family! Based in Brisbane, the music producer is originally from Glasgow where he became involved in the early Hip-Hop, Dub, Hardcore and Jungle scenes in the first part of
the 90's. These bass-heavy broken beats laid the foundations for a lifetime obsession with music and soundsystem culture. Their influences resonate through his unique production style to this day.

Static Structures goes all out with Duck & Cover EP, discharging four weapons designed to tear up dancefloors around the globe. Catalogued as ND007, this release showcases his versatility in the 160 range, bringing heavyweight basslines, frenzied breaks, dreamy pads, rave stabs and chopped-up vocals of varying flavours. An EP that reflects his passion for music and contemporary approach to the Hardcore / Jungle sound.

London based DJ& producer, Hommel, aka Tom North, is a man who knows his way around the club scene on the south coast, having been a resident at the now-closed Junk in Southampton for 3 years. He's clearly using that club experience to great effect on his contribution to the VA - "Beads". This one has absolutely expertly crafted, pitched and chopped breaks, with plenty of beautiful crystalline synths and swamping bass. You'll be glad to hear, that it's probably not the last you'll hear from tom on Noctambulant.

µ-Ziq says hello again with 'Goodbye'. The six track EP is the first in a series of releases by Mike Paradinas this year, which are all centred around the 25th Anniversary Edition of 'Lunatic Harness’, his classic 1997 album. 

Inspired by going back through the archives while he was remastering the Lunatic Harness reissue, 'Goodbye' sees Mike revisiting the nineties, taking on jungle and it's precursor jungle tekno and upgrading them with the benefit of hindsight and contemporary software. Imbued with Mike's lush sense of melody and his knack for striking contrasts (don't be shocked to hear maudlin piano, 303 and amens in the same track), 'Goodbye' approaches these old genres like a sandpit, and stretches them in directions only Mike might take.

Aggressive basslines meet driving drums and hectic synthesizer sequences, interrupted only in a few places by melancholic pads. Thus, the album can also be understood as an expression of an excessive demand to come to terms with the complex conditions of the present and celebrate an escapism to cold robotic scifi atmospheres somewhere in the dark of the universe.

He recently participated in the compilation "Bomba Patch Vol. 1" released by Nice & Deadly in partnership with DSRPTV, and is now on his way to releasing his biggest solo work. The name comes from the artist's religious background and has the Brazilian syncretism as a starting point for unbelieving mixtures of funk, electro, techno, drill and other styles of global electronic music. Conceptually, KID addresses the contrasts between the divine and the profane in the Brazilian urban context through aggressive, serious, calculatedly mixed and distorted rhythms. A sonority that not only meets the energy of Brazilian bailes but also seeks place in a more attentive listening to the arrangements and details.

Yazzus - Impulse (Breaka Remix)

Tempo Records present SPEED, a new Tempo Records sublabel & project released on a limited collectors handnumbered 180gram coloured picture disc vinyl with original & legendary producers who helped shaping the Drum & Bass scene. After the DJ Trace & DJ Krust releases on Tempo's SPEED series here's the living legendary 'call & response' originator: Source Direct.

Source Direct, along with Goldie, Photek, Peshay and Wax Doctor, one of a handful of stand-out artists who were signed to major labels in the wake of Jungle’s/Drum and Bass' popular explosion. 

Around 1995 Source Direct would have been primarily known as ‘intelligent’ or ‘Speed’ artists (after LTJ Bukem's and Fabio’s legendary SPEED midweek club, held at the Mars Bar in central London). Speed, and then Metalheadz at the Blue Note shortly afterwards, helped pave the way for dj's & producers like Source Direct to experiment with deeper material. 

On this release you'll find new Source Direct material with 'that' distinct trademark SD sound; superbly engineered breakbeats, the relentless sonic, rhythmic, tempo experimentation and haunting 'Blade' film-scape 'dark sounds from beyond' atmospheres accompanied with deep sub-aquatic resonant bass lines. If there's one production technique Source Direct applied it's the 'call & response' technique (the latter is also the track title of SD's contribution to 1998's Stephen Norrington's 'Blade' cult movie which starred Wesley Snipes).  

Vinyl collectors please check: This release comes as a strictly limited 600 copies handnumbered 180gram Picture Disc Vinyl pressing with a high quality polybag sleeve (including a handnumbered qty sticker on polybag corner) + all tracks mastered by Stuart Hawkes of Metropolis Mastering London. First come, first served, no picture disc repress! 

Note: The sound quality on a picture disc may be less good as on a regular standard vinyl! For the full sound experience, you may buy a full digital wav or flac quality download.
