"As 'Discography Lessons' is all about promoting positive mental health, I have chosen music that makes my mind, body and soul feel good. - I've gone for music that spans time and genre but all has one thing in common; each track creates a sense of happiness and well-being within me in it's own unique way whether they give me goosebumps, make me want to dance or just seem to caress my inner mind. I start with a mix of downtempo, funk and yacht soul at 100bpm moving through into reworked classics, deep house, nu-disco and italo and finally finishing with some dancefloor beauties at 128bpm. I hope this mix will improve moods and make people feel positive and motivated."

Napalise nu-disco producer Noil Rago follows up his “Unusual Disco EP” on Hot Digits Music with another salvo of funky deep burners. “Dope & Dope” kicks things off with some warm mid-tempo house/funk with lashings of rhodes, tinkling chords and mysterious breathing vocals shots before we jump into heads down territory with “Disco Raydio” which is a Bass thumping stomper, no messing! “Beat & Beat” ups the tempo for a retro synth filled nu-disco groover that’s prime gear for those peak time shape throwing before ending the EP with “Jimme & Jack” which is pure deep house indulgence with Noil’s trademark echoing vocal shots and razor sharp underground beats. Label boss Fingerman’s Dope & Dreams Re-Edit of the title track completes the EP with the Belfast editor injecting some heavy funk beats to the original vibe of the original for the perfect party starter.

Hey this is John from Le Visiteur Online, welcome to the first of our new audio interviews where I will be speaking to some of disco and house music’s most inspiring artists and biggest characters.

For our opening episode I am talking one of the true legends of the scene Nicky Siano. His club 'The Gallery' in Manhattan was one of the three clubs which helped spark the disco scene and bring it to worldwide attention alongside the Loft and the Paradise Garage. Nicky was also a resident at the equally legendary Studio 54.

Inspiring those around him Nicky was a mentor to both Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles so his imprint on the scene is unquestionable.

We had a long chat about his career including how he started his DJ'ing 16, the impact of the Gallery, how he developed his DJ Style, David Mancuso, Larry Levan, Frankie Knuckles, his own DJ heroes, his upcoming film ‘Love is the message’ and how his career and life has progressed over the years.

While Chicago is certainly the birthplace of House music, Milwaukee can also lay claim to House history, specifically the French flavor. Debuting in North America in 1996, Daft Punk played their first States side show in Milwaukee, a detail clavette has never gone a day without reminding himself. clavette, the Milwaukee native and LA based DJ & producer, has built his career on the fact that big things can start from humble beginnings. 

Relocating to Los Angeles in 2013, clavette deeply steeped himself into the music industry, working on projects for major recordings artists such as Baby Jake, as well as high profile composing clients like Chanel, Ray Ban, Nike, and Tidal. An avid French House-head, clavette started the moniker end of 2019, tirelessly preparing his sound in his home studio, using the influences of artists like DJ Falcon, Alan Braxe, and Le Knight Club of the late 90’s and early 2000’s French House scene as his guiding light. 

While the landscape of the live music industry changed dramatically in the early months of 2020, clavette debuted his project with an emphasis on strong digital releases focusing on songwriting, groove, and melodic nostalgia. Fast forward 2021, clavette has made quite the name for himself in only a short amount of time, blending sounds of Disco and French House with conviction. clavette has already garnered the attention of industry heavyweights like Diplo, Mark Knight, and Roger Sanchez via BBC Radio 1, Sirius XM, and KISSFM UK. Showing his foundations are rooted firmly in the traditions and history of House music, clavette aims to add his unique voice to the conversation in what he calls “French House Revival.” Having debuted a guest mix for prestigious Radio FG, as well as scoring multiple Genre Top 10 positions on Beatport and Traxsource via his releases with Toolroom Trax, Simma Black, and Deep Root Records, clavette is poised to make big strides in the coming year and beyond.

French born Alex Arslan, and Italian Riccardo Pirotto met somewhere in Berlin years ago and then decided to make music as Panna Cotta, and having the self titled Mini LP on Marcel Vogels Lumberjacks In Hell label in my hands I must say it was a good decision to do so. It is hard to describe any genre the duo serves, the productions are sitting somewhere between sultry disco and polished pop with an electronic feel to it. For my personal taste the majority of the tracks has a Balearic edge, and that’s outstanding these days.

Opener ‘Tasting Sugar’ takes us on a psychedelic cosmic journey, while ‘Sweet’ picks up the yacht rock pace a touch. ‘Childhood’ with its slo-mo vibrations, encourage the dancers to sway, while ‘Nobody’ surprises with its broken beat breakdown and impressive drum solo. For those of you who expect another Chaka Khan cover with ‘I Feel Love’ plays with analog synths and steady drums, with flecks of acid beneath the uplifting vocal, all floating along on a killer groove.‘ Sunrise’ allows the honeyed vocal harmonies to take centre stage amidst the blissed-out soundscape, the remix of label honcho Marcel Vogel with its sweet acidic elements and funkiness is my pick of the lot. All in all a very special outing!

Swiss musical mastermind Christian Beat Hirt has been a constant force in the music industry since the 90s. A globally renowned producer and label owner, he launched his Me & My Toothbrush alias in 2013. Dedicating this project to disco and new funk, he fused together organic guitar sounds with analog synths, resulting in a fresh & clean musical blend (giving listeners that real toothbrush feel!) Achieving several Beatport No. 1 tracks, including ‘Get Down, JB!’, ‘Hands Off’, ‘Push The Tempo’, ‘Be Alright’ and ‘Funking Around’, some of his addictive cuts are approaching the 10 million stream mark and have made their way into influential playlists and sets around the globe.

A musician in the truest sense of the word, , Christian Beat Hirt boasts over two thousand published compositions, including his GRAMMY-nominated remix with EDX for Charlie Puth’s ‘How Long’ in 2019. Co-producing with the likes of Nora En Pure, EDX and many more, Chris has also been involved in over 500 official remixes for the likes of Camilla Cabello, Tiësto, Tove Lo, Beyoncé, Charlie XCX, David Guetta, to name a few. Mixing and mastering some of the biggest artists in pop and dance music, he has played an essential role in the development of dance culture, and continues to contribute to the scene with his own productions, his Enormous Tunes imprint, and its prolific sub-labels.
