This week 1 More Thing bossman NoDave is joined by Pinks for a very special session that took place live on BMC Radio 22.3.25. The day after Lakeway's album launch. 

Kicking off with dubstep and moving their way up the tempos, Pinks and NoDave roll out an epic multi-genre free-for-all that even touches on hardcore and old school rave at points. 

Intense, vibey and lots of fun. Surprisingly it turns out this Pinks' first ever multi-genre b2b! Didn't seem like it. The LEVELS ARE SO HIGH!!! Shheeeshh. One of the most intense mixes so far. 

In fact this got SO tasty we even got free pizza from a nearby chef!!! 

Hell yeah!

I'm back in Wales this week for one of the most contemporary, relentlessly tearing dnb set of this series so far. 

Come get stuck into the vibes as I get a serious shooing from a DJ named Tone. 

In fact things get so intense I turn off the wrong deck at one point. No apologies. These mixes are raw, honest and in the moment. And there are a lot of wicked moments in this mix! Tone is heavyweight! 

Haverfordwest-based, he's a busy DJ around West Wales and the Pembrokeshire area. With chops like these, his reputation should extend much further. Razor sharp and cheeky with it! I really felt the pressure on this one.

🌞Welcome to Marble Elephant's garden for our first al fresco Come B2B With Me!! 🌞

This one is special. I have a lot of time for Marble Elephant and the sonic range they trek. Both big advocates of the deeper, emotional and cinematic sounds across the 140-170 spectrum, their cuts on labels such as Incurzion, Fent Plates, Fokuz and their own Fragrance play a key role in my deeper mixes and they're awesome people too.  

I first met Tina and Baptise at a stream called Mental Health Matters exactly four years before, back in May 2021. It was during that strange time when we were coming out of the lockdowns and one of the first times any of us had human interaction beyond our bubbles for a long time. For that reason alone it was a profound encounter but for added extra, it was also where I met Chiz who would eventually become my first mentorship student and has been a huge part of 1 More Thing. 

It turns out that particular stream was Tina's first ever set, too... And that's she'd actually learnt to mix for it! Four years later, you can see how much she slays and how deep she digs in this mix! With a partner and creative soul mate like Baptise, it's clear they both push and support each other in a really lush and wholesome way. 

With this in mind, plus everything this mix concept is based on - inclusion, fusion, sharing ideas and inspiration and having a buzz together - this has all the right ingredients. 

A deep connection, some deep-assed tunes and even a random Lakeway in background all in a beautiful outdoor spot on a lovely balmy bank holiday afternoon the day before Tina and Baptise hosted a little private party. 

It'll be impossible to forget this one!!

By far the most ambitious and talent-racked session of the series so far! 

One sunny afternoon in Bristol earlier this year 1 More Thing interrupted a Yamatai Records and Transparent Audio writing camp and took up two of their hours with this mega mix up. In Selector J Man's studio no less!! 

A proper Sunday flavour with a few beers, plenty chats and a chill vibe that felt like it could go well into the evening, this was a unique and super cool moment between Dave and a bunch of new-generation artists who represent two very on-point labels that are right on the futuristic cusp of drum & bass. 

While the rest of this series is quite intense and reaction heavy, this one is a far more laid back. The mixes are tight, the dubs are fresh, the music is cutting edge but this is business as usual for everyone in the room so there's way less focus on the mix and more focus on the social. 

Just like those Saturday and Sunday morning post rave sessions that were part of the inspiration for this series in the first place!

Come B2B With Me... A series where we invite a kindred spirit over for an unplanned, unrehearsed set and see what happens. This time we invite a fellow family member for an ultra special goodbye session. 

ATTENTION: This is an emotional one!

Not just because Chiz had me at a Pirates to do a tear-out neuro mix at 10am on a Sunday but because this mix is a celebration of everything we have achieved together in the last two years. 

Chiz is Marc Chisholm who has been a consistent voice and hugely positive energy at 1 More Thing since he came on board as a mentorship student two years ago. As he explains in the interviews pre and post mix, his life was in a very different place than it is now.

Now one of the co-owners of exciting, forward-thinking neuro label Brainrave, and literally about to do his first ever international headline show this week, Chiz has taken all opportunities I've given him and rocketed to places neither of us could have imagined in August 2023. 

The love and respect is a two way street and he's been a vital powerhouse at 1 More Thing allowing me to do all the cool things we've done over the last two years including hosting takeovers, launching the label side of things and running events. He was also the curator for our Freshest Drum & Bass playlist for most of his time with us so if you've released any D&B in the last two years, and we've playlisted it, that's down to him! 

Marc will always be 1 More Thing family but for now he's with us in vibe and spirit as we watch him take his inspirations and passions to exciting new levels.

Come B2B With Me 16 - NODAVE B2B CHIZ

It's another biggie!!! Following last week's emotional rollercoaster with CHIZ, NoDave drives over to Bristol for another meaningful clash of sounds, souls and vibes, this time with kindred spirit KJAH and the focus is very much on the classic rolling Bristol sound. 

It's a sound that's so synonymous with KJAH that I honestly thought he was literally a Bristolian for years before we first spoke years ago when I interviewed him for UKF. 

Turns out he's just a deep deep DEEP nerd for that timeless, foundational essence of West Country jungle. The fact he regularly works with originator and Full Cycle pioneer Suv is as big as co-signs get in this field. And the fact I am able to go toe-to-toe with him in his own studio is an amazing feeling for me! 

I say it every time but I love it when a B2B makes me focus and zone in on a particular vibe and style. Mixing with Keiran definitely made me do that. This is proper unapologetically headsy session of late 90s inspired basslines, deep jungle and contemporary bass rollers that we could have continued for hours.

Unfortunately a little tech failure occurs along the way so you'll have to deal with just the sound for around 10 mins mid way but honestly who would want to look at these old grumpy faces when you can close your eyes and listen to some serious BEATS? Especially as many of them from KJAH's side are unreleased, forthcoming exclusives!!!
