"For this song I imagined a girl standing in war zone silent with everything exploding around her in slow motion. To get this vibe, and also make the song playable live, I stripped it down to band instruments. I played the chords and asked my friend, Polly who's a folk singer and extremely talented guitarist, if she would like to sing on the track. She doesn't do D&B usually but has an exquisite voice. We wrote the lyrics for her to sing then I engineered all the bass and wrote the tune and added my friend Kai, MC Pride, to it from a vocal snap my other producer friends had in shared dropbox folder for hip hop.His vocals hit really well. It's probably the best thing I've written to be fair. Then Polly emulated the main riffs on the guitar and there we have a piece designed to be played by a band. It's a future project for a live performance. I hope you enjoy it."

Scout 22 - In The Silence Feat Polly Hoare & MC Pride [Free Download]

To celebrate the release of Don't Stop with Deerhill - my first ever spoken word track - I've put together a mix that makes sense of the track and reflects my chaotic headspace. 

The track is a letter to myself and to anyone else who needs to hear it - no matter how hard the brain snake bites, bite it back and crack on. There is no other way.

The mix is a story of a day. From the thick haze of waking up with a screaming brain to the final throes of late night self critique - this is the soundtrack to a regular day. Sometimes it's the soundtrack to a standard hour or even minute. 

There were two other aspects of this mix I wanted to highlight... I wanted it to represent some of the more commercial / funkier slower tempo music I've been playing to pay some bills AND some of the epic stuff 1 More Thing is about to release. This literally goes from ambient to 200BPM. It's even got some theme tunes in it.

Park Shadow is the project of Finnish producer Joonas Lehtinen, a figure whose roots stretch back to the late '90s tracker era. A very personal vision of drum and bass, this project reflects a balance between natural formlessness and urban grit.

With previous releases across the scene, Park Shadow arrives on Metalheadz with the 'Altitudez EP'. Goldie's interest in the title track set the course for an EP that draws on the roots of jungle and drum & bass while exploring its outer edges.

Across its four tracks, the EP unfolds as a journey - beginning in foggy melancholy, shifting into bittersweet, rave-charged energy, rising toward brighter, more uplifting tones and closing with an almost dreamlike sense of release. Breakbeat-heavy throughout, the 'Altitudez EP' is a release that carries the spirit of jungle into new terrain.
