Pete Herbert drops the second release on Paradise Row - the imprint he and Dicky Trisco set up to release their own output. 
Mango Moon is a very Herbertesque number pumped full of musical influences from House to Italo to Disco, but with an eagle eye at all times on driving the dance floor really wild. Pedro demonstrates his years of experience as both a producer and a DJ in a track that captures so much of the territory he has covered in both guises over the years. With its pumping live disco underbelly, its melodic Italo-style keys riding on top and its rock solid drums, it really is a very classy production by a DJ producer who knows where he wants to go and how to get us all there at the same time.
Meanwhile on the flip, his label and DJ compadre Dicky Trisco flips the track in a live disco direction with an epic take of his own that throws more than a few surprises into the mix. Dicky teases the dancefloor with a long build up but just wait until those wicked keys by Faze Action’s Robin Lee drop in.  Quality stuff.

PETE HERBERT - MANGO MOON - CLIP

Co-opted & Exoticized is Beaner's first solo outing on Berlin's La Mission, and an important one at that. The whole release is an exploration of "im/migration, the brown experience, and stripped identity" - along with the vinyl, the meticulously arranged package comes with a magazine and other extras, including an immigration card. Dance music has certainly never been immune from an unhealthy does of cultural appropriation, and here the La Mission crew - self-described "brown folks with stripped and fragmented identities" - seek to bring that to light.

Beaner's 'Got Blues?' grapples with the idea of using a forgotten artist for one's gain. The bizarro, disorienting rhythm is sourced from the work of a blind 1930s blues bongo player - not something we can ever claim to have come across in a press release before! Coarsing through the groovy track, choppy hurricane synths and deep, serpentine bass pave the way for fleeting piano explorations. A banger alright, with or without the accompanying framework. Get caught up in this one.

Warmed up to the right temperature with some offbeat effectsbox. Multitracking is a technique widely used...to create a "one person band with all its members oneself's multidimensional copies in time"
