6AM Guest Mix: De Feo

Chami and OPH are a part-time double act with roots in Lyon and a more recent base in Berlin. Fully integrated in their local scene, the pair have expanded their love of records to furtive raves on the outskirts of town (Minijob). Under the moniker Face 2 Face they play very literally one in front of the other, with a four turntable, two mixer set up, dogged passion and a little faith that kismet will devise whatever sound it may. A mirror framework that cultivates subconscious dialogue between the two and their crowd by extension  Together they proffer a world that’s as stimulating as it is fast-paced; it’s deep, repetitive, ritualistic techno with a magnetic pull that’s hard to deny, at once cerebral and groovy. This twin flame has lit up floors from Paris’ La Station to Tokyo’s Womb, with a Bassiani performance back in October. Here, for a very special Bassiani Podcast 215, the duo band together once more and tell a 90 minute tale that twists and turns in unexpected ways, one that’s every bit the raw and potent sound they’re known for. Casmalia is a producer, DJ, songwriter, and live vocalist residing in San Diego, CA, who has taken the west coast house music scene by storm. A classically trained musician with a degree in audio engineering, Casmalia has been consistently churning out club weapons since her freshman EP in 2017 on Hood Politics Records. She has since earned affiliations with Insomniac Records, mau5trap, Night Bass, Box of Cats, IN/ROTATION, Farris Wheel, Space Yacht, and more. She was named one of “2022’s Artists to Watch” by both Nightenjin and EDM Identity, citing both her increasing festival bookings and successful releases. Her tracks have seen support from David Guetta, Claude VonStroke, AC Slater, Green Velvet, Bijou, Gene Farris, Noizu, Kyle Watson, and many more across both the EDM and tech house worlds. After her widely acclaimed release “Four Letter Word” on the mau5trap/Insomniac Records compilation album in 2021, her tour schedule took off and hasn’t slowed down since. Some highlights include singing live at both EDC Las Vegas and the DoLab stage at Coachella, a 2023 Splash House debut, closing for Diplo at a sold out show at The Midway in San Francisco, performing at both the 9 and 10 year anniversary parties for AC Slater’s Night Bass in 2023 and 2024, and providing direct support for both Kyle Watson and Noizu on their 2023 tours. She recently hosted the May 2023 edition of Femme House sessions, partnering with LP Giobbi’s flagship project to provide free educational resources to women and LGBT+ artists. Masses over masses try themselves at being a DJ and in the production of techno. Being a newcomer in this overcrowded market doesn't seem appealing at first sight. Putting in a lot of effort to establish one's reputation is not everyone's cup of tea. To stand out of the masses one must buckle down or have the proper Vitamin B. When Vitamins are lacking, what especially counts are a strong will and persistence. Those are guarantors for the opportunity to exhibit one's talent eventually. The rise of Krenzlin followed this principle on one of the surest Newcomer-Floors in the world. After Sebastian Krenzlin started DJing in 2003, it took several years for him to eventually be discovered as a newcomer after his participation at the Tresor Award of Pacou in 2009. Since he played in the Tresor for the first time in September 2010, he is counted among the steady Ensemble of Berlin's legendary club.
With the series of events „New Faces“ and three allies he forms a platform for the performance of new faces. Every first Wednesday in the month he starts his own special event under this flag seeking for new talents who impersonate this spirit.
Even as a producer Krenzlin build up a reputation since 2011. If one reads the list of labels under which he has released since, it is hard to believe that such a fantastic discography can be formed in this short amount of time. With Synewave,Nachtstrom Schallplatten,Driving Forces Recordings,Starkstrom Schallplatten, Mastertraxx Records, Slap Jaxx or IF?Records the best pools for exceptional, underground profiles of techno-acts of the last years string together. In the spring of 2012 a co-production with 88uw and Synewave followed and came like a bombshell exactly like the one countless times before in the Tresor...

1/ Who are you? What do you do?
I have been playing record for the last 20 years, I have a radio show called Deep Space Helsinki that I have been doing with my dear friend, Samuli Kemppi, for over 10 years now. We also expanded to a record label of the same name in 2012 and did a couple of vinyl releases but it's been on a hiatus for while. I have also produced music for labels such as Semantica, MindTrip, Reclaim Your City and provided remixes to other labels as well. I have had residencies at Helsinki's Kaiku Club, Kuudes Linja (where we used to organize Deep Space Helsinki parties between 2011-2016) and Ääniwalli but since my move to Berlin in 2016 I've had to give them up, unfortunately. I also share label duties with my friend, Ville Vähäsaari, for our label, No Future But What We Make, but we've only put out one record since we established the label, so things are running pretty slow. Other than that, I am a pretty easy-going guy.

2/ If you were a movie character, who would you like to be?
Godzilla, very randomly.

3/ If music didn't exist, what job would you like to do?
Film Editor

4/ The naughty / improbable anecdote during a gig?
I was kicked out of my own gig once, for selling my free drinks to the customers. There was this shitty bar I was playing with a couple of older guys right when I had started playing records. We got pretty hammered and then these customers kept mistaking the DJ booth for the bar so I thought: "Fuck it, let's get these idiots their drinks and overcharge them". That didn't go too well with the bar management and I was relieved of my duties and got banned from the bar.

Es gibt so Musiker und Menschen die ich über Soundcloud kennenlernen durfte … die sich über die Jahre zu richtigen Freundschaften entwickelt haben --- toll toll toll. Hierzu gehört A. aus der Nähe von M. Gerade treibt er musikalisch sein Unwesen als „hrsch“ aber seine Projekte hören dann auch immer wieder mal auf und es tauchen an anderer Stelle wieder welche auf. Sprich er bleibt mit seiner Musik gerne etwas unbekannt. Lange lange Jahre hat er ausschließlich nur Vinyl gespielt, mit einer gigantische Musiksammlung. Nun hat er aber ca. die ½ seiner umfangreichen Sammlung an ein DJ-Kollektiv übergeben und ist nun einfach mal etwas digital unterwegs … schön flexible. Und deswegen fehlt er auch nicht in meiner kleine „We Are At Home“ Reihe … ein wunderbares Set für Zuhause oder gerne auch am See.

An dieser Stelle Danke A. für unseren tollen musikalischen wie auch menschlichen Austausch … auch wenn wir uns nicht oft sehen … sehe ich doch als einen meiner besten Freunde an.

Elektro Uwe ist zurück … aber nur kurz und nur um euch in dieser seltsamen Zeit mit guter Musik zu versorgen … die Reihe endet, wenn die Clubs wieder aufmachen. Und bitte unterstützt eure Freiräume … sonst wird es sie nach der Krise nicht mehr geben.

Kwartz is the stage name of Mario Campos, born in Madrid in 1989 and now based in Berlin.  In late 2011 and after publishing several EP’s in different international labels, Kwartz's productions began to draw the attention of the leading names in the international scene, so in 2013 Exium released a split EP with him called Fenomen, which was his first release on vinyl.  In late 2013 Kwartz joined PoleGroup and became part of the booking roster of the label commanded by Oscar Mulero, where he began to release his works regularly. In addition to PoleGroup, his tracks have appeared in several of the most important international labels, such as 47 (Tommy Four Seven’s label), Mord Records, Semantica, Horo or Warm Up Recordings.  2016 brings the launch of his own label: Order&Devotion, where he will release those of his works which move between dark atmospheres and deep and visceral sounds, all surrounded by rhythms designed for the dance floor.  His sets could be described with three words: raw, mental and groovy, in which he pushes the dancefloor to a constantly state of tension.

Lost Algorithm is Techno DJ and Producer from Baku, Azerbaijan. He is the Founder of several labels including Fabrik Music, Algorithm Records, Sector Audio, Epidemic Mind and as well as Founder of Algorithm Music Label Group. created in Baku and now relocated to Berlin. 

Lost Algorithm has been producing music since 2015 and started DJing shortly after. His music style has been described as modular, acid, proper, and industrial techno orientated for the dance floor.

Rashad is a Techno DJ and Producer as well as the founder of Underground Club and Labyrinth Records.
