Following the warm reception of “Change, Release, Rift” on Observant, Other Form returns to his own label for Unknown Movements’ final release of 2021 and is joined by the talents of Quelza (Mord, Hayes, Newrhythmic, KSR) and Polygonia (Lowless, PhonoTropismi, Bahn, IO) on remix duties, with Temudo (Klockworks, Warm Up, Hayes, Soma) in the mastering seat.

Opener “Public Layer” brings the combination of ’floor-ready urgency and cavernous sound design that Other Form is becoming known for before the pace is changed radically for “Protista”: a slow and sticky descent into murky waters reminiscent of latter-day Regis. “Mirrorpath” then forks yet again, with its caustic snares and sub-lines paying homage to the producer’s home of Bristol.

The two remixes of “Mirrorpath” take the track in wildly different directions, both barely related to the original, and pull it off the ledge into more experimental underworlds. Quelza’s interpretation opts for a textural rhythmic frenzy, full of tension; Polygonia’s opens a tunnel of swirls, throbs, wobbles, and disembodied vocal samples.

I was willing to let go of everything and everyone just for the music.

Los Angeles based NEKTER provides the room with what she calls a techno sound bath; scratching different parts of the brain with various textures and noise while using particular healing frequencies and sounds. This emerging DJ has been working her way through the underground warehouse circuit around the world.

NEKTER gained her notoriety after winning the 2021 REFORM DJ Contest hosted by 6AM Group and Synthetik Minds. She cut her teeth playing warehouses with the Berlin/LA based all-female techno collective Fallen Angel. She is often seen on local lineups for the most prominent underground groups in LA such as 6AM, Dirty Epic, WORK, Incognito and Synthetik Minds and has shared the stage with industry heavy-hitters such as Ben Block, Ben Sims, Ø [Phase], and most recently as direct support for Amelie Lens. Now an official resident of Commonsense Records in Mexico City and WORK in Los Angeles, NEKTER finds herself sharing the decks with even more insane talent. 

NEKTER aims to shake things up and represent the next generation of DJs while paying respectful homage to the legends who helped pave the way for the underground electronic music community. More importantly, NEKTER's focus is on the experience of the sound journey as it relates to spiritual exploration. Her 10+ years of yoga and meditation practice has landed her at a place where she no longer wishes to have a boundary between the electronic music scene and consciousness observation. Her sets are designed with the purpose of diving into one's subconscious, making friends with one's shadows, and feeling sensations in every part of the body. It is imperative to her that the journey be healing, embodied, and somatic as well as being fun and sexy as fuck.

NEKTER fills any club, festival or warehouse with deep hypnotic beats, groovy melodies, mind-melting frequencies and fat slammin' bass. Whether she's opening, closing, or headlining, expect nothing short of a proper electronic music experience with NEKTER behind the decks.
