DJ and producer from a small town.  
What started with DJ'ing at a skating rink when I was 14 has become a lifetime love of finding and sharing the music I love.  Inspirations range from classic jam bands, folk, global travel and deep playa.  
This new journey fulfills a lifetime creative desire to share my love of music and make some of my own.  Music is memory and hope and feeling.  It's a journey and YOU are invited.

Abboriginal aka Mike Abb has created a genre all his own calling it ‘half-hop’. Drawing from influences such as instrumental hiphop, acid jazz and neo soul; ‘half-hop’ twists with ear-soothing retro flare combined with glitchy head-nodding beats.

Originally starting out with turntables and Roland drum machines, making home made mix tapes (yes real tapes) Abboriginal has always had a firm grasp on experimenting with sound and technology. Currently, with a strong focus on Ableton Live and his trusty OHM64 RGB, Abboriginal continues to make a big impact on the music production scenes in Texas, Colorado, Northern California and New Orleans. Through his extreme dedication to his craft Abb has spent time working with Austin Texas based Computer Instrument manufacturers Open Labs and Livid Instruments. Abb has been instrumental in helping develop, test, and spread the word about their products.

Mike Abb’s story would be incomplete without mentioning the man’s immense work in the video realm. His YouTube channel has over 500 personally produced videos with a massive play count of over 2 million! Abboriginal’s videos feature the top names in the electronic music scene as well as tutorials on software/hardware. He also is an avid VJ and can be found behind the projectors as often as the turntables.
Abboriginal is truly living up to his name and hype as an original personality in a sea of conformity.

From Lille with Love

Inner Ocean Records is a platform and collective for emerging artists to release music and visual art. Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the label was conceptualized in 2012 as a vehicle for artists to have their music heard and seen, to build a community of passionate people.  We designed the label to be what we would have loved to have as artists ourselves, redefining the rules in an ebb and flow to the changing landscape of music. We have made a conscious commitment to be transparent, adaptable and always for the people.

We are a label for artists, by artists. 

We’ve built the backbone of this label around great sound and feeling; laid back, honest and forever chill. We have released a lot of different sounds; Ambient, Lofi Hip Hop, RnB, Modern Funk, Future Soul and Indie. Since our inception, we have prioritized natural evolution and organic growth in the music – we value the process and accept change.  Expect the unexpected; we want to delightfully surprise you;)
