This song is off of my four track EP “Nocturnal”. I took a completely different stylistic approach to the original. In terms of instrumentation, I originally intended this to be completely acoustic, but after experimenting with different sounds such as programmed strings, piano, choir and percussion, I had some success in developing and evolving the sound.  I have had a lot of positive response from this track and I learned a lot along the way of creating it. It was a very different process to that of which I am used to, namely metal and rock music. I have since started writing another acoustic/texturized EP that I will be releasing in late May.

This was a cover I did for a project at university. Everything is live and there is no programming whatsoever. I used fifteen microphones to record the drums (the maximum amount of inputs available to me) and then reinforced them with editing, samples, rooms from superior drummer and rooms from impulse responses that I had created earlier in the year. I recorded the guitars with an amp simulator to allow me to focus on getting good takes rather than the tone itself, I then later ran the DI’s into a re-amp box and re-recorded the guitars using a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade 100 head and Vintage 30’s cab. The bass track is split into two, the low end is the DI heavily compressed and the high end comes from my Sansamp RBI analogue bass preamp. The vocals were recorded using a Shure SM7B, and everything was double tracked for a thicker overall vocal tone.
