The album title, and a lot of the lyricism, drew from the experiences, emotions, and thought patterns I've had over the last year and a half. I have lots of anxieties about the world, but I'm grateful for the love and support of my friends and family.

Musically, the biggest inspiration for this album has been my Weber upright piano, which we bought second-hand shortly after moving to CT. It has a practice pedal, which plops a nice thick felt right down between the strings and the hammers. I'll sit down and doodle on it daily. In the end, I ended up recording it for every song on the album except the two instrumental songs, ironically enough. The last song on the album is a solo piano/vocal piece.

Started out with something pure
But it slowly degraded to the state it’s in now

I'm baaaaack!

Here's something that's along the lines of the style I've always strived for. I've worked tirelessly to improve my sound design these past few months, as well as grinding on being more melodically interesting to bring y'all a good listening experience. So here's the beginning of a new era of skybreak... HYDROFUNK!

This one's jazzier and funkier than my other stuff, but we got some emotional stuff comin soon as well so stay tuned!

Also, cheers to @iammodus for the master, @skyroses for the art, and most of all, thanks to my dad for his awesome guitar solo in the 2nd drop (and thanks for letting me ruin it by improvising a lead over it, haha)

Skybreak - Hydrofunk

Collapse / Expand isn't a concept EP, but it is aptly named. Each of these songs survived multiple, heavy reworks and they landed where they are now. The title also comes from the fact that a lot of things seem to be ending or beginning or growing.
