Sob Story

Sweet Memories

I think we'll look back in the not-too-distant future and see social media as the cigarette of the 21st century.  There's certainly upsides to social media (connections, networking, keeping in touch), and there may not be any to cigarettes (aside from it's cool to blow smoke out of your mouth like a dragon), but I still believe, at least the way it seems like it's used, social media is mental poison.

Not everyone's smiles are real on social media.  Not all families are as happy as they appear.  And if we believe they are, we might compare our own happiness and well-being to that which boils down to a fictional representation.  We might as well compare ourselves to characters in a TV show.

Anyway, this song is about how social media can mislead, but can also make you feel invisible.  The irony of being able to be looked up by anyone on the planet and simultaneously feeling lonely and in need of validation is not lost on me.

I'm not invisible, I'm right here, standing tall.
