New song release: Amherst Wetlands Plea
This is the tenth entry in my Amherst series, blending music and civic storytelling. The song responds to the Mass Ready Act, a bill that could drastically reduce local authority over wetlands protection. I wrote it after reading about the issue in the Amherst Indy.

This one’s written in the protest folk tradition—direct, urgent, and grounded in place. Public comment deadline is July 29.

Based on a recent article in the Daily Hampshire Gazette, this song pays tribute to the resilience and care that go into growing peaches here in the Pioneer Valley. From Easthampton to Colrain, each verse tells the story of a farm, a farmer, and a harvest that survived the frost to bring sweetness to the table.

This isn’t just about fruit—it’s about place, people, and perseverance.

On July 29, 2025, a devastating 8.8-magnitude earthquake triggered tsunami warnings across the Pacific—from Russia and Japan to Alaska and Hawaii. This song, Tsunami Lament, is my way of processing the shock, fear, and resilience I witnessed in the news and remembered from disasters past. It's an American folk ballad for those who fled in the night, for communities holding their breath, for lives lost and saved, and for the strength it takes to rebuild.
