A big one! Reaching podcast number 200 is very special. Technically, the show starts its fifth year with #208 in a couple of months, but the nice round number is as good an excuse as it gets to celebrate! I am very grateful to everyone who listens every week, to all the amazing guest DJ’s who’ve given us their musical gifts, and to my brother @djstevefinney who has expertly taken over curation of the offshoot show, Mellow Prog Vibes, with some memorable sessions already under his belt!

Thank you to our radio partners, Ottawa’s Blast The Radio, UK’s Beach Radio and The Netherland’s Meer Radio - your confidence is much appreciated! Thanks also to the radio stations that have carried our show in the past - Cosmos Radio (Germany), Dinamica Radio (Argentina), Quantum Radio (London).

This show has two goals: showcase progressive DJs from Ottawa (and Canada) to a global audience, and bring international DJ guests to an Ottawa (and Canadian) audience. For the past four years, it’s been a real treat to get to know Ottawa-based DJ’s who are, like me, lovers of progressive electronica, and very fulfilling as well to make contacts and friendships across the many countries that are represented through our guest DJ’s.

We are very excited to introduce our new resident @boradavid who takes the decks with his first MPV this week.

Starting his electronic music career when he was only 17 years old, Boraa fed off the eclectic music scene of Istanbul and incorporated his experience into his productions. Playing in parties across Turkey, including but not limited to major cities like Istanbul, and Izmir, as well as Antalya, Bodrum, and Baku, Boraa also contributed to the development of the electronic scene in Baku, Azerbaijan, where he worked with event organizations and working with big names. 

More recently, Boraa supported the first and best music platform in Baku, solong.live, and worked as a lineup coordinator, connecting the big names with the fans. Boraa has also shared the stage and collaborated with names such as Guy J, Tantum, Kasper Koman, Frankey & Sandrino, Alex Orion, Martin Roth, and Kadosh. 

Boraa’s first production dates back to 2015, with more recent releases such as “Mind Field” with Three Records, “Melancholia” with Ah Digital, and “Clouds” with BC2 Records and upcoming track releases November 17th on UV NOIR.

Actualmente busca un Progressive más agresivo con mucho groove y bajos bien marcados como Maze28 y Ruben Karapetyan sus referentes en el ámbito local en la producción son Kebin vaan Reeken , Agustín Pietrocola, Mayro y John Cosani

LEANDRO GAMBA

Leandro Gamba es un Dj, musico y productor nacido en Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cuando a sus 8 años comenzo sus primeros estudios de guitarra, arranco un camino que lo llevaria a descubrir en la musica electronica su lugar. Atraido por el ritmo hipnotico y los sonidos eclecticos que destacan en la pista de baile, fue cuestion de tiempo para comenzar a pinchar y contar su propio relato.  

Sus sets se caracterizan por el groove constante y las melodias vibrantes. Su estilo de mezcla siempre progresivo, busca llevar la energia para adelante, pinchando generos que encuentran su raiz en el house. 

Con el fin de difundir el sonido del progressive crea su propia productora de eventos ThreeOne producciones, desde donde convoca artistas nuevos y consagrados.
Compartió cabina con Djs como Emi Galvan, Paul Deep, EANP, Nicolas Ruiz y Los Cabra. Con presencia de años en el circuito underground de Buenos Aires, toco en pistas como Bahrein, La Biblioteca, EsVedra, The Shamrock; y sumo shows en Brasil y el interior de Argentina.
 
En 2020 debuta como productor en el sello Soundteller, lo que le permitió encontrar un nuevo espacio para llevar su mensaje: la musica como medio de expresion vital. Un canal de armonia y emociones que a traves del sonido resuena en nuestros cuerpos hasta hacernos bailar.

ABOUT OTTAWA PROG VIBES

Alain M.'s weekly podcast, Ottawa Prog Vibes, is now in its 7th year and is a recognized presence among Canadian Electronica shows. The show has two goals: showcase progressive DJ's from Ottawa (and Canada) to a global audience, and bring international DJ guests to an Ottawa (and Canadian) audience). 

Alain plays three out of every 10 shows. His mixing has been noted as particularly creative and smooth, a skill that allow his sets to be experienced as seamless stories.

An offshoot series, called Mellow Prog Vibes, is released every two weeks and focuses on more chill vibes, slightly more downtempo, to create a more relaxed vibe. It is curated by OPV resident DJ Boraa, who plays every other episode, with guest DJs playing the alternate.

Ottawa Prog Vibes and Mellow Prog Vibes are broadcast weekly on UK's Saturo Radio, New York's Chill Lover Radio and Ottawa's Blast the Radio.

Alain M. started dj’ing in his early 20s and played a variety of clubs, big and small, in Ottawa, Montreal and Kingston. From teenage influences in progressive rock, metal and blues, and later New York and Chicago house, Dutch techno and early trance, his style has evolved towards the more melodic, infectiously rhythmic and thoughtful sounds of progressive house, with a particular fondness for Argentinian productions.

Over his 30+ years as a DJ, Alain has cultivated a signature melodic, danceable, and thoughtful style with enough surprises to keep even the most devout listeners on their toes. His live events, organized only a few times annually, are a hypotonic, transformational experience for attendees, putting the Nation’s Capital on the map for electronic music. He has organized and collaborated in a number of events including Levitar, Sunday Meet & Beat, Sit-Down Sessions, Shake my Thursday and Expeditions, attracting a thoughtful crowd who stay mesmerized by his melodic, danceable sets, always peppered with delightfully unexpected sonic elements.

Alain M. is also a guest DJ submitting regular sets to several radio and online outlets. He is a resident on X-Beat Radio (France, Belgium). He was a monthly resident on Abyss Sound Experience on QuestLondon Radio in 2021 and on UK-based Beach Radio between 2021 and 2024.

He has appeared as a guest on a number of shows in several countries including the UK, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Peru, Turkey, Israel and the US. In Canada, he has been featured as a guest DJ at several events by Ottawa-based Music.Art.Ppl, on CHUO FM’s Vanguard Pulse Radio, on CKCU FM’s Lost In Bass and Mapped Out Radio, on Montreal’s Afterhour radio show and on Toronto’s ION radio show.
