One Hearts Azimuth

Part 4 of my "All Hope Is Lost" mini track series.
The world is broken and all hope is lost but still the nomad wanders, into territories unknown he escaped but not without sin, now longing and searching for salvation...

Salvation

Keith had a gentle guitar phrase and  a few words that he was playing with and shuffled it over to me for a listen to see what I made of it. The result is the song below. The conflict is in the spirituality represented by the sparks on a fire ascending, and the observation that the embers twinkle, fade and fall, silent. What is it all about if the prayers, meditations and positive thoughts just fall back to earth like the sparks? The beliefs we embrace must hit the road of reality. If they measure up to good - wonderful! But if not? The supreme irony for me is watching kids being taught to hate in a religious school class.  I was going to use the coordinating conjunction BUT to set up the point of contrast (But you can't..."). Instead, Keith preferred the AND ("And you can't...") as, in addition to all that one CAN believe, you must be aware that other things follow too. Can And Cannot. So simple. Or is it?

RiZLiX - Empty Your Cup

Another Foundation track. It was the bass synth that inspired the track, it made me think of an anti-gravity engine... 
The "machine gun" guitar is a Fender Telecaster bi-amped to give that meaty punch. The warbling guitar is a Deusenberg Paloma with a vibrato pedal, reverse delay and fuzz box put through a plexi amp.

The Edge

This is the latest in the Texas Tea series called 'Firstly'.  It's something I was working on and I got to a point where I felt it needed a kick.  So I said hmmm, self do you know anyone that plays killer synth and that might be open to adding something cool to this?  And of course I did.  Terry was kind enough to throw something together with short notice and I think it's great. 

The idea is the song is like drifting down a river but the river is not water it's the blood of innocent kittens - no it's not, it's not, relax. just seeing who reads all this,   it's a psychedelic river and as you float all these different sounds appear. It's a busy song but it is intentionally, so take your ADD meds and put on some headphones and see what happens !

And now this is the concluding track 10, "Stay with Me", in my just completed album "New Beginning" (2024): composed in Garage Band iOS in the late evening of 3 March 2024 and arranged, mixed and recorded in Logic Pro in the late evening of 4 March 2024, with final arrangement and mix in Logic Pro in the late evening of 5 March 2024, by Alex M, then posted on SoundCloud on 7 March 2024 (together with the album as a whole).

The album artwork cover, also used as the cover of each constituent track, was created in PowerPoint and annotated in Mac OS Preview on 19 July 2023 (and 5 January 2024, changing the year from 2023 to 2024 in the brackets of the album title).

I have always admired music, of diverse styles. Like most of us, I have tried learning to play a few instruments at a basic level in my teenage. But it is only now, in the 21st century, that modern software allows anyone to fool around being the composer, the designer of a whole composition, simpler or more complex, organising together the parts of the various instruments - and to hear the results of this experimentation or inspiration instantly! That is how I have recently begun enjoying the distraction of attempts at composing during my leisure, discovering an amazing dimension of life, and art, perhaps the most intangible, heightening and hypnotising one, and the closest to the soul...
