Italian electronic pioneers, Alexander Robotnick and Ludus Pinsky deliver their second album as The Analog Session. 'Black Ground' is a journey into electronic music, from the early 70s to modern techno, performed only with vintage analogue synths.

Wires, cables, knobs, keyboards: they are still a vital part of The Analog Session’s improvised world. But as opposed to 2013’s ‘April’ album, ‘Black Ground’ is more dance orientated in its vision. Although most of the tracks originate from improvisation, there’s more editing work on their individual parts so that they sound more structured and danceable than usual.

Initially conceived as a video project (currently with over 320,000 hits on Youtube), The Analog Session then became an album project and finally a live performance. For Alexander Robotnick and Ludus Pinsky it’s not about being nostalgic for an era they represented but is more a progression and improvisation in the present music scene currently dominated by computers. Like the vintage analog gear the pair use, the Analog Session is a living, breathing entity. On the one hand capable of organic brilliance and on the other, breaking down at a moment’s notice.

The new album tracks range from electro-disco to techno, opening up to melody and chord arrangements throughout. ‘My Dream’ for instance is an introspective theme that is developed through different arrangements, alternating with an almost electro-house rhythm. ‘Lonely Dancers’ is made up by a sequence of synth notes whose sound transforms and becomes the backbone of a track that could be perhaps be seen as ‘minimal-electro’ whilst ‘We Are Here’ has a style that's more difficult to define. As in ‘My Dream’, here too a dream-like theme disrupts the minimal atmosphere that provides the tracks structure.

‘Space Circle’ is built on an harmonic progression of four chords, repeated throughout the track whilst undergoing continuous variations - inversions and substitutions - where the tone-colour of the analog synths fully capture the alternating soundscape. ‘Shure I Like’ injects an element of 80s synth pop with its infectious melody providing a link to the duo’s long-estbalished past but ‘Wild Electrons’ takes us further into future-space as the duo explore the sound potential of the latest (polyphonic) synth assembled by Ludus Pinsky.

Finally ‘Black Ground’, the title track, brings us back to planet Earth where the analog sound reveals its concrete, earthly nature. The CD also includes two previously digital only remixes: ‘Ascension’ (Late Night Rmx) and ‘Effai’ (Late Night Rmx).

We’re (a little late) in celebrating our Birthday Mixtape, but it’s worth the wait because we have two very special guests. You’ve probably heard of them—they’ve been shaping the music scene online for over a decade, both as a world renowned Premiere channel (they have the Soundcloud followers to prove it) and as standout DJs in their own right. Their influence has expanded countless musical horizons for younger and older generations blending genres and highlighting quality new releases, and they truly deserve a medal for it.
We’re beyond excited to welcome Les Yeux Orange! And just wait until you hear the mix they’ve prepared for us—pure class, showcasing their distinct musical palettes and their musical signature.

This collective started early 2013, when Raphaël and Stan team up to share their passion and knowledge of electronic music. Long time collectors and DJs, they start off by creating their Youtube channel and sharing podcasts of international DJs. 

Shortly after, they started their premiere series, hosting exclusive unreleased tracks from upcoming releases on a daily basis and becoming to be known as one of the best curated Soundcloud platforms. They launched their eponym label and the Good+ imprint, which have been bestsellers in the edits scene.
In the meantime, they began to throw some of the best intimate parties of Paris in La Rotonde Stalingrad, inviting international guests and slowly but surely giving the club the reputation of an unavoidable pillar of the local scene. They are gradually invited to play all over France and Europe. 

Their ability to captivate the dancefloor through a large spectrum of the finest undergound electronic music always promises a magical journey !

Through his label Marketing Music, Tim has spent years pushing out some of the most distinctive and unconventional house records around. His long-standing collaboration with Ivan Smagghe as It’s a Fine Line is a testament to his ongoing hunt for the unexpected – always a step away from the obvious.

His own productions stretch from the fiercely original (It’s a Fine Line – Woman) to the beautifully restrained (Outback, Stones & Vinyl), and his remixes – for the likes of Metronomy, Polo & Pan, The XX, Silicone Soul, Salif Keita, and Telepopmusik – show a producer who never plays it safe.

Off the dancefloor, he’s made just as much noise: over 50 international performances with Belgian choreographer Nicolas Musin, plus work for France TV, Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and the Philharmonie de Paris have all borne his unmistakable sonic fingerprint.

Now, Tim’s back with a new solo release on Live at Robert Johnson – That Boy. A return to the club, yes, but also a reflection of everything he’s soaked up along the way. Rough-edged, refined, and unmistakably Tim Paris.

This was back in 2013, when SoundCloud had just started rolling out its premiere feature. One of the first to embrace it were LYO — the Parisian DJ duo playing gigs all around the globe, constantly sharing new music through their SoundCloud page. Always open to help, support, or offer advice, they quickly became a key part of the scene.

It’s no secret that when we started our podcast series, we were influenced by pages like LYO and Krossfingers. They’ve been a source of inspiration for years.
