Nicola Porciani è nato a Livorno il 22 Luglio 1984. 
Studia pianoforte per cinque anni in maniera discontinua: due anni classico e per tre anni pianoforte Jazz, presso la Scuola "Buonamici" di Pisa, allievo di Andrea Pellegrini.
Dal 2001 è tastierista dei Betularia, band livornese attiva dal 1998. 
Partecipa alla registrazione del loro primo singolo " La Calma e l'Immenso" nel 2004,con la produzione artistica ed esecutiva della Red House Recordings.
Segue una intensa attività di live show per i successivi anni.
Nel 2007 registra il primo album dei Betularia, "La Stanza Di Ardesia" presso il Modulo Studio Recording di Cuneo, sotto la previdente produzione di Riccardo Parravicini e la collaborazione artistica di Gianni Maroccolo.
Successivamente, i Betularia hanno la possibilità di esibirsi live, in gran parte del territorio italiano. 
Nel 2009 forma i Side Chain assieme a Daniele Mattioni: compongono un project-album (dal carattere tutto elettronico/sperimentale) dal titolo "Prototipo 1".
Nell'autunno del 2011, in qualità di compositore della colonna sonora del cortometraggio "Curator Aquarium" , realizzato da Simone Campanella e Giacomo Favilla.
Vince, come miglior cortometraggio della sezione "FAI - I Luoghi del mio cuore" (inserito nella programmazione del Milano Film Festival 2011)
Nel 2014 è negli studi del Jambona Lab di Cascina(Pi)per la registrazione del nuovo album dei Betularia.
