People often ask me what my favourite dance tracks of all time are, and it's always a difficult question to answer, because most of the time it depends on how I am feeling on that particular day. 
More often than not, 'I Want Your Love' by CHIC is one that comes to mind. It was one of the very first 12" singles I bought (I was 14 years old). 
Now...I know this track has been remixed, remodelled, remade, and re-edited a hundred times. There are versions that I absolutely love, especially the Dimitri From Paris version from a couple of years ago, and of course the Moodymann version from the mid 90's. 
I initially wanted to just do Part 1, but every time I got to a certain point I just wanted to hear THAT whole riff! So, I ended up doing this.

We have long been fans of what @twit-one represents - The resurgence of golden age hip hop and beat productions, coming straight out of Cologne, Germany. He and other master minds of this scene, such as Suff Daddy, Retrogott, Hulk Hodn, Flo Filz, have crafted their own re-interpretation of early 90's hip hop, gaining recognition and praise all over the world, even as far as NYC and within the beat scene in LA, for its authenticity, purity and respect to the roots. More and more Twit and his peers moved into broader musical territory, including disco edits and even straight up house, though always keeping a clear sample based backbone, taking influences out of their extensive record collections.

A 22-year-old artist based in Paris, Bwi-Bwi began his production career when he was fifteen and is already making waves across Europe with his super-fresh deconstructed style of house. Since 2012, as part of duo M&C, he has a regular slot on Rinse FR, has released solo projects on the likes of Kitsuné and is now an affiliate of Lüüd Discs where this track was originally released on vinyl. His production on ‘Insight’ is well considered and intelligent. Every chord fits neatly into place and a purveying melody gives the track a familiar warmth that feels like coming home.

In the A1 groove of ST002 comes our premiere, and Leipzig-based Luvless' contribution to the release, "Vary In Colour". It's a trademark Luvless track in the best sense; a thick drum machine and synth bass combo serving as the foundation for ethereal grand piano riffs. The flow of the track is executed perfectly; building tension with strings and clever filtering, while percussion and hats layer in to really get the track moving. It's--in short--an anthemic track--rising nicely to a brief refrain before unleashing the full energy of the progression in the final third of the arrangement. "Vary In Colour" is purely bittersweet; at once beautifully uplifting and full of sad nostalgia. An ode to the joyous, fleeting moments in life and dance.

This first advance single stands as a perfect example of the exotic album's vibe.

Vitalino Emilio Santiago, better known as Emilio Santiago (Rio de Janeiro, December 6, 1946 - † Rio de Janeiro, March 20, 2013) was a Brazilian singer. 

Attending law school in the 1970s, began to sing in college festivals in the same decade and participated in a talent show, reaching a final program Flávio Cavalcanti, the defunct TV Tupi and the orchestra worked as a crooner Ed Lincoln, and many performances in clubs and concert halls at night. In 1973 the first single released, with songs of love and Transa de Amor and Saravá Nega, which caused major interests in radio and television programs. 

The first LP was released by IDC in 1975, with songs dedicated forgotten composers such as Ivan Lins, João Donato, Jorge Ben, Nelson Cavaquinho, Guilherme de Brito, Marcos and Paulo Sergio Valle, among others. Moved the following year for Philips / Polygram, remaining on the seal until 1984, by which released ten albums - all with little effect. Was chosen as the best performer at the Festival of Festivals, TV Globo in 1985 with the song Elis Elis. 

Success came in 1988 actually, when they released the LP Aquarela Brasileira by Som Livre, a special project of seven volumes devoted exclusively to the repertoire of Brazilian music, all topped four thousand copies sold. At this time, has also launched other special projects, as a tribute to singer Dick Farney (Perdido de Amor, 1995) or by rewriting classic Hispanic bolero (Dias de Luna, 1996). 

He signed with Sony Music in 2000. The disc marks the debut of the new label is Bossa Nova, which brought many classics of the genre and also yielded a DVD. Continued with a smile (2001), a tribute to the composer Gonzaguinha and another with João Donato in 2003.

The latest album was "O Melhor das Aquarelas Ao Vivo" wich revised the repertoire of Brazilian music that he recorded the album from "Aquarela Brasileira" (1988), between the merits and that the account is first live DVD of Emilio and second career after bossa nova.

Fouk might have been curating Outplay since 2013, but their ‘Butterfunk EP’ is in fact the duo’s first proper EP on their own imprint. It’s not that they’ve been resting on their laurels: they’ve dripfed a handful of EPs on the likes of Heist and House of Disco over the past few years, and released solo efforts on Kolour Ltd and Razor ’n Tape that stormed the charts. It’s been fascinating to see the Dutch pair slowly break the mould, moving from heavy sampling in favour to an emphasis on original instrumentation and production.
The Butterfunk EP is fine showcase of their prowess in the studio, loaded to the hilt with contemporary dance floor funk. Things kick off with the rolling drums, off-beat percussion and seriously infectious Hammond lines of Organ Freeman. Title track Butterfunk is aimed squarely at the hips with its smooth keys and perfectly placed vocal, while some acid lines give the track a little edge. Flip over for the bumping ‘Wong Way’, a chunky workout with a rubber bassline. The finale of the EP is ‘Winter’, a fantastic slice of 80’s inspired downtempo mushroom jazz.

Rhythm Section sub-label International Black,  has just unleashed their third EP, again with 19 year old jazz student Mallard, and also with another young producer known as LT. Collectively, they are known as J.Deep. We were first introduced to Mallard via his debut RS INTL EP, ‘Verte’, a deep and often lo-fi excursion into house music’s more chilled out realms. He returns with a track aimed more squarely at the dance floor, and it packs a punch, with the arrangement and musicality highlighting Mallard’s musical training at Trinity College.

“Common Era” is a long journey. Clocking in at just over ten minutes, it feels like an aqueous transmission from a lost underwater colony. Never dull, the track progresses nicely as subdued synths and arpeggiated bells flutter over a simple, but effective, groove and bassline. A track like this benefits from its length, and a talented producer like Mallard knows how to effectively pull the listener in various directions using subtle changes to the percussive and instrumental sequences that allow for one to feel lost in, rather than fatigued by the track. Songs like this are perfect for headphone listening, but also quietly effective on an after-hours dance floor. We could certainly see this going over well during a sunrise, the calm before a storm of more uptempo early-morning beats.

Mallard is certainly one to watch, and with Bradley Zero’s guidance and support, we’re expecting big things from the young jazzman.

Timewarp inc returns with his third full length album “Ghetto Drunk”, after a long period (over four years ago) since the previous successful album “Groovy Booty” back in 2008.
