The way you approach this section with your piano chords and melodies is amazing Alan, you capture so much in this section, from trepidation, anticipation all the way to a state of calm

Oh wow, Alan I can safely say this is a masterpiece. This section just grooves so hard. Those bass lines and synths covering them are just awesome to say the least!

'Approaching The Void' is a fusion of feelings and emotions. Musically it covers quite a lot of ground and is hard to pin it down to a specific Genre. So I have used Fusion and hope that this is adequate for a description.
Many instruments have been used in producing this work including: piano/strings/synths/percussion/drums/woodwnd and brass/electric and acoustic basses/electric guitar.
The work is completely imaginary in content, in respect to delving into one's mind, which of course is an interesting journey. Conveying the journey through this work was the object of the exercise.

Vision

Now retired from a life 'on the road' as a freelance keyboard player, I compose and record in my home studio, situated in the Carrick Hills in Southern Scotland. My music is mainly instrumental in nature and is a reflection of my life experience, sometimes real and sometimes imagined.
My influences are many and I have quite probably been shaped by listening to the very many "giants" of music, both players and composers. From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion. I have a special relationship'with bass, whether upright or electric and use virtual and synth basses from numerous sources, but mainly Trilian by Spectrasonics.
