The Versatility of Alan Hamilton’s Fusion

I am once again honored to have guitarist Harry Jacobson join me on this dual guitar instrumental fusion track titled “CLOCK IS TICKING”.
What starts off as a repeating set of three cool sounding suspension chords accompanied by a simple repeating motif, quickly builds up and morphs in multiple layers of guitar-work by both myself and Harry.
I really enjoyed the many additional musical ideas that Harry brought forth, that helped propel this simple futuristic sounding concept to life.

"Summertime" is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 opera Porgy and Bess. The lyrics are by DuBose Heyward, the author of the novel Porgy on which the opera was based, and Ira Gershwin.
The song is sung several times throughout Porgy and Bess, and in act 3 by Bess, singing to Clara's now-orphaned baby after both parents died in the storm.

I search for sounds and assemble them. I purposely switch the order. I try switching different rhythms for each phrase. Usually, a song is born that is like a "poker hand" with no winnings. This time, an image was born. An image that I didn't intend to create appeared. It's a lot of fun to fantasize about where I'm heading.

The album weaves together themes of life on the road, nostalgia, and family, with guitar contributions from his son Blaise Watt adding a multi-generational touch. Its sound evokes the spirit of the sixties, drawing comparisons to the likes of Buffalo Springfield and the Grateful Dead, while also channeling early seventies folk reminiscent of Jim Sullivan. With its blend of Americana, folk, and vintage truck-driving songs, Watt delivers a reflective, soulful journey through time and memory.

Blue September

There are many versions and different traditions of the story of the Magi and about their journey. And about their origin. Pictured on the cover is a drawing found in the 'Catalan Atlas,' a map of the world dated to the late 14th century. Pictured here are the three kings. The caption reads: “This province is called Tarshish, from which came the Three Wise Kings, and they came to Bethlehem in Judaea with their gifts and worshipped Jesus Christ, and they are entombed in the city of Cologne two days journey from Bruges.”
But where was the city (or the country) called Tarshish (Tarsis, Tharsis), whose king was already mentioned in Psalm 72?
No one, exactly, knows.

I recorded the guitar part in 2018, when bought a Guild (my Washburn had become mute ...), so the track has a lot of noise and imperfections. Then there were several attempts to organize the piece and arrange it. This could be the last one. It came rather long and slow. But long and slow was also that improbable (and hardly true) journey - perhaps one could imagine it by closing the eyes and listening to the music.

'Just When You Are Not Looking' A mixed grenre track of neo-Classical and Fusion. I've called it Alternative Fusion and it was inspired by just how quickly your day can change from enjoying the moment to utter chaos and pain. Accidents happen often when one loses focus and takes life for granted. For example: when washing the dishes, whilst thinking of something else and breaking a glass, and when picking up the broken pieces, cutting one's finger and can't get the blood to stop poring out. Just an example of the myriad things that can change "Just When You are Not Looking"

From classical to contemporary jazz and everything in between. My main instrument is the keyboard, whether that be piano, organ or synth. But I also play banjo, flute and percussion.
