Hawk Tubley, guitar & vocal; Andy Davis, electric guitars; Mike Szekely, drums; Andres Villamil, bass; David Cope, thumbtack piano.  Produced by the incomparable Andres Villamil.

Sing Sweetly, Run Swiftly is a piece that deals with two types of music.  The first is nostalgic and still. The second is boisterous and ebullient and it stands as a contrast to the stillness of the first.  The piece, then, is about the interaction between these two types of music.  This piece was commissioned by the Lyra Society of Philadelphia.

"Think" is an acousmatic text-sound composition based on experiencing a close friend going through a temporary schizophrenic breakdown. The text is derived from phrases and jumbled text that I found on my friend's social media profiles, which was the only way I was able to interact with her during that time.

My name is Andy and I am a composer based in Boston.  I was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Columbia, MD outside of Baltimore.  I have always been fascinated by music and sound.  I started playing the trombone in elementary school and then became obsessed with the guitar in high school.  When I went to college, I majored in music and became involved with the composition department.  Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate at UPenn.
