It feels good to release some tunes! I've been thinking a lot about the boundary between sound design and melody/harmony, and  'Decorating Time' explores that idea. It represents a lot of what I have learned in the past year and explores some techniques I've been diving deeper on.

This one was in the works for a while, went through a lot of iterations, and then sat on the shelf for some time when I got sick of it. I accidentally pitched the whole master down one day and heard everything from a new perspective that I really liked, and that's the version being released today.

Maniacz - The Prismatic

You don't remember how you got here. You're in the middle of a huge open field of tall grass. The sun has just slipped beyond the tree line as the wind picks up.
  You're standing in front of a small 5' by 5' building with an elevator door. 
   "This makes no sense. why would an elevator be in the middle of this field?"
You ask yourself.
You don't remember how you got here.
A small fluorescent bulb situated above the elevator buzzes to life, illuminating the space.
'Ding!'
The elevator door slides open. Inside is a cold metal interior with a worn down, red carpet. You don't remember how you got here, but you're compelled to move forward. you take a few steps into the lift and look at the buttons. There's only one button with the word 'Up' inscribed below it. A small, unassuming screen sits above it. 
"Up? there's nothing above this thing. How can it go up?" You say aloud as curiosity takes hold. You press the button and the elevator springs to life as the door shuts behind you. The small screen whirs and a video of a speech from one of the Rocky movies pops up.
Then you feel it. The elevator starts to move up. defying all known laws of physics. It's fast, too. you feel your weight increase significantly as the small room speeds towards the sky. there's no way of knowing where you're headed next, but you sit down and brace for some sort of impact.
 After almost two minutes of endless climbing, the room starts to slow it's ascent and comes to a gentle stop. You're in shock, but grateful to be alive. you stand up and prepare yourself for whatever awaits next.
'Ding!'
The door slides open..

Elevator Music

Malice is a deep dive into Hi-Fi production, mixed with deep, pulsing basses and searing synth stabs. It will build you up, take you down, and equalize you. Its strength lies in its multifaceted sound design, meant to invoke several emotions at once. 

Comment how the song makes you feel, or what it reminds you of. Music is ripe for interpretation, and everyone's take is just as valid the next. Good or Bad, we all speak the same language in the end.
