This is a demo for a new song I've been working on with lots of weird time changes and weird progressions... It seems there are threes and sevens all over the place, and I have an unbridled admiration for all prime numbers, so I'm liking where it's headed so far... I still need to write lyrics and come up with some vocal patterns for it, and who knows... It will likely be a totally different song by the time I'm done with that. Recorded 4/3/21 and 4/4/21.

– Dark Rider –
The dark rider looked down on them, slowly turned, and then walked back through the doorway behind him. Without hesitation the prince started running. Through the doorway the prince found another dark room with a green cylinder of light in the middle. Without giving it a second thought, the prince ran into it. His body lifted off the floor and in a flash of green he was in a new room with gigantic doors that towered over him. A single heavy sound rang through the chamber and the doors opened to reveal the now unhorsed dark rider standing in the room beyond.
The battle started instantaneously. He sprinted toward the dark rider, slashing uncontrollably with his sword. The rider was caught off guard for only an instant by the abrupt attack, but quickly regained control and had the prince on the defensive in to time. The rider made a side slash that threw the prince off balance. While he was stunned the rider then preformed a move where he rolled forward on the ground and sprang up to knock the prince off his feet. The prince flew backwards across the room and slammed into the wall.
The prince looked up and saw that all the walls of the room were slanted triangles, and realized they must be in the floating pyramids apex. He turned his focus back to his dark attacker who was menacingly walking towards the prince. The rider wasn’t wearing the black armor he donned the last time he laid eyes on him. Now he was clad in dark red ceremonial robes. His skin was pale, and his face more angular than any person he’d ever known, but his most unsettling features were his blood red eyes.
The dark rider now stood looming over the prince. His sword hilt still across the room, the prince sat helpless on the floor as the dark attacker raised his sword. Just when the prince thought it was all over, something impacted the left side of the dark rider and he crashed into the wall. The prince turned to see the immortal hammer. He had flung his hammer from across the room at the last second and was now hurtling towards the dazed dark attacker. Before the rider could collect himself, the knight picked his hammer up and swung. The dark rider countered at the last second, and leapt to a safe distance.
The knight pulled the prince to his feet. They both looked at each other, and wordlessly they both came to the conclusion that the only way to win was to work in tandem. They split directions, the prince ran for his hilt, and the knight went for his hammer. The dark attacker tried to cut the knight off before he could reclaim his hammer, but the knight grabbed it just in time to narrowly defy the riders attempts. The prince and the knight were now flanking the dark rider, with a slight nod from the prince they both sprung into action.
The dark riders reflexes were lightning quick. He parried the knights blow effortlessly and was able to spin around in enough time to strike, which kept the prince from making his attack. He turned back to the knight to deflect another attack, but he wasn’t quick enough to stop the prince from launching his attack and the rider could only side step leaving him vulnerable to the hammer. The knight seized his moment and swung low. The hammer decimated the riders kneecap, and he crashed to ground.
The prince took one last look at the dark assassin laying helplessly on his back and without another moments pause, sunk his blade into his stomach. A shockwave went through the room. The room started to shake and the prince could see the walls starting to fall apart. The prince looked back down at the body, it hadn’t disintegrated like the others, dark red blood was seeping from it and working its way into the cracks of the pyramid, quickly destroying it. Suddenly the room lurched. Whatever force was holding the pyramids apex up now gave way and the room they resided in crashed in to the pyramids base below.

Ghost Note is a moody, guitar-driven instrumental that drifts between alternative-rock riffs and post-rock atmosphere. Clean arpeggios into thick, overdriven choruses, while syncopated drums add a restless pulse beneath layers of reverb and delay. I’m looking for a singer / lyricist who can bring emotive hooks— or falsetto textures—to elevate the track’s dynamic swells.

Feel & Influences: Think early Deftones meets Explosions in the Sky, with a dash of Nothing But Thieves melodic sensibility.
