Oh what a time it's been...

After a small hiatus with the mix series I felt it was important to keep going with it. This beautiful healing music by Berlin based @slowfoam is exactly what the doctor ordered. Slowfoam is the cyber-atmospheric, bubblescape, synthetic pop, and ambient sound project of Madelyn Byrd

"In this mix, I wanted to drift between otherworldly realms to reassociate with the things I love most about ours. For me, some of these things include laying on the earth and pretending to merge into the blue sky, the sonic and energetic sensations of being alone in nature, or staring at a glistening river until falling into a trance. But also, having friends and loved ones I miss so much I start to giggle when I think about the fun we've had together, and then fun we'll have together again."

one hour of rave candy from the woods in NDG this past summer -- 3-4am with DJ Hi Chew (@djhichew), Dizzy Play (@cikadamusic), Jujube (@jujub3), Jaijiiu (@jaijiu), T-Nex (@turtle-nex), and the lovely Nono Gigsta (@gigstab).

i love these tracks and think there are some good moments and i don't have much recorded material so i want to share it. ill save my critical thoughts about this set... i learned a lot from preparing for and playing it. 

as for the night itself i must gush a little... thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Layer05 crew for entrusting me with playing this series that means a lot to me and on this crazy lineup of very talented and singular DJs. im in constant awe of the organizers djs dancers and people in this city and this was another night it really showed. thank you to my friends who were there for me and everyone who encouraged me afterwards and since then. im forever in love with the Pomelos and it's surreal to play on a soundsystem you helped build - thank you @sako-gh for including me in the Pomelo journey. extra shoutout & thank you to my DJ parents @dj_ekhan & @choozeydestiny for their friendship guidance & inspiration 👽

some short anecdotes - we were dancing on a long steady hill that for the first half of the night unnerved me but then i learned to love it (salope for slope). the cops came towards the end of my set and we had to shut the music off as Nono got on. however we outnumbered them, and after some 20 minutes of anticipation, a certain special someone outsmarted them and the cops went and fucked themselves! we then danced thru the most magical morning as the light came thru the trees. my heart was so full it was overflowing ❤️‍🩹
