In early 2011, I toured with Yatagarasu in support of my then new album, Bad Happy. About 11 days or so into the tour, we played Panama City. After the show, we went to the house we were staying for the night and I began to incessantly rap an annoying phrase at my tourmate.
What does that have to do with the song? Not a whole lot, but shortly after bothering the hell out of Chris with my song, I went to check my email and promote the next night's show via Facebook and noticed I was tagged in a rather busy thread on the Monomate wall (or maybe it was a post on my wall that was busy... who knows). Pete had remixed the speedy and chaotic track, Metallic Sheep Nap, into a sultry, down-tempo pop groove. At the end of the year, the track appeared on the Monomate double album "NE/PO" as part of the Positive Emotions side. (Ironically, the song is one of extremely negative thoughts and was recorded in the midst of a panic attack, but I like the idea of taking negativity, balling it up, and reshaping it into something positive.)

I decided I would respond with a remix of my own of a Monomate track, but it had to be the right track at the right moment.

Later on in life, Pete noted that we should collaborate on some kind of dance music album. That may or may not happen some day, but that idea would certainly be the thought that lead me to jokingly start to do a remix of this song as an electroclash thing. What happened beyond the corny electroclash beat and vaguely appropriate-for-the-style bass line was just the natural reaction of my brain being ridiculous. It can hard for me to stick with a particular genre unless I'm being paid to do it.

I actually cut this song up to do something more artistically interesting with it, the thought being that he was taking a negative and making something positive out of it, and I'd be doing the same, in that I know the album this song comes from carries the same kind of fan-popularity based self-stigmas that my first recordings do for me... but instead, I quite possibly went in the total opposite direction, throwing the concept of taste under the bus, but I dare say I'm happy with this track.
Anyone who has spent any time in my car knows I legitimately love some pretty over the top and ridiculously cheesy dance music.

It's my understanding that his music may be posted somewhere on youtube, so you might be able to find the original if you poke around. ;)
