Finally I've found some time and inspiration again to create another Ecstatic Dance mix @ home, which in this case is a collection of favorite tunes I've been playing out over the last few months of this past year. Tunes which made so many amazing freestyle frolicking freaky dancers float like awesome angelics and bounce like bewildered baboons allover those magic Ecstatic Dancefloors in the Netherlands. 💃🕺

I have once more tried to captivate the majestic magic of Ecstatic Dance in a dance flow and journey aimed to facilitate the release of all kinds of physical, emotional and mental tension and stress, as well as dosing this blend of musical masterpieces with all kinds of delicious moments of fun, happiness and bliss. 🥳

That being said, I won't waste more words on it apart from wishing you all tons of listening and dancing pleasure and paying a massive thank you to all the incredible 🔥❤️‍🔥 artists that created all these musical masterpieces of audio acupuncture and sonic satisfaction. My intention with recording this set was to evoke a summation of the experiences we shared together on the dance floor over the course of 2023.

In this 1 hour set, I curated a variety of sounds & moments that I do believe many of you would find an embodied sort of familiarity in + It is my hope that all of you will be able to - in essence - practice, relive & share in those same instances of sonic intelligence with others, outside of Sol Dance. That being said, may each of you continue to thrive & enjoy with your hearts this quintessentially circular journey through light, sound & embodiment. More music to come.

Quintessential Sun

So exited to share my closing DJ set at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne's 2023 finale! The diverse crowd and fluid dance styles created a dynamic atmosphere that went from meditation through to full blown cathartic release. My set, spanning various genres, resonated with the engaged audience, blurring the line between tempos and energetic dynamics, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present. It was a transformative and magical conclusion to a year filled with connection and unity.

We begin the practice in a meditative state hence ambient, organic and downtempo sounds proceed the first part of all my Ecstatic Dance mixes at Ecstatic Dance Melbourne until Madhu opens. If necessary you can fast forward to around 50 minutes in to where uptempo beats drop after this and we swing into a dance floor grove elevating, then finding ecstasis or our peak moments together around 1 hour 40 minutes, then ending in sultry solstice prayerful guidance by the wonderful Madhu Honey once again. Enjoy.

ALOHA from Big Island, Hawaii.

APOLLO SANTO is my DJ/producer alias. I'm an eccentric Hawaiian Kingdom immigrant with a long history in the electronic music world. 

Born, raised and living in New York City most of my life and known professionally by my given name Spiro, I was an early pioneer in the Long Island house, techno and breaks scene of the mid 1990's, releasing records on Caffeine, Definitive/Plus8, Grinning and my own label, I.M.U.R.Me Records.

Just before all that, I attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, where I studied film scoring. That passion has been reignited by the score for Dune Part 2, and I'm working on some new music that reflects that.

After forays into progressive rock and jam band music in the early 2000's, I was a founding member of Brooklyn’s legendary “Freek Factory”, resident DJ at Alex Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors in New York City, and shared stages with the likes of Bassnectar and The Glitch Mob long before they were selling out coliseums. 

Now pursuing my life-long interests in ethnobotany and alchemy on an isolated piece of land on the Big Island of Hawaii, I indulge friends with DJ performances and recorded mixes of the most emotive and richly musical deep and tribal house, drum & bass, progressive psy, and other unique and organic dance music I can find.
