In 2013 we got invited by our very good friend and notorious selector of obscure and eclectic records, Edward, to deliver an afterhours mix for his podcast series, The Dance. We approached this mix by splitting it in two parts; a pitched down, tripped out uncomplicated techno mix (70') and a selection of some of out favourite trip-hop, chill out tracks (40'). Can be equally enjoyed as an afterhours/clock-off mix as well as on the drive to or drive back from the beach.

Perhaps best-loved for his dynamic take on techno in both his productions and his DJ sets — having been involved and around music for nearly 30 years, @DVS1 is an expert in his field, a true veteran of the scene whose roots extend beyond DJing into grassroots raves and event promotion in his native Minneapolis. 

These days, he continues to push his own limits, getting involved in and starting up projects that fuel his love of music, but also his love of the community he was raised in and helped build. His most recent venture, Aslice, is a software-based platform which proposes a fairer music ecoysystem for DJs and promoters is in its early days, but its concept is bringing up questions for both me and Zak. 

For episode 47, we're exploring the value of art, the definition of success, his own personal perceptions of his worth as an artist.

The Silent Disco Series: Kazak - The Girl Craved a Boogie (June 2020)

A few days before Lockdown 2.0 hit the U.K. we were delighted to host another Tier-1 household (sic) for an all-day Halloween themed party in the Orbit Soundsystem HQ. 
This -almost- 7hrs long recording was the soundtrack of the later, adults-only stages of the night. It sets the tone with a smoothly escalating warm-up and retains the trademark vibey Orbit Soundsystem sound throughout, closing with a lengthy melty, couch-lock segment. Like most of our 'lockdown' mixes, we have tried to shy away from harsh or warehousey sounding records while creating ecstatic intensity through peaks and troughs in rhythm and textures. A 'living-room' friendly party set with the 'stay-at-home' connoisseurs in mind; it was great fun! Enjoy!
