It’s Podcast time and we dive right back in to our guest invites and we’re very pleased to welcome a rising talent from the London underground scene, who has been making quite the name for herself in the last year - Redfreya! 🤩

An emerging artist in the London Deep House / Deep Tech scene, Redfreya is drawn to melodic, percussive and hypnotic tracks, weaving deep groove lines with emotive vocals, and always seeking to curate an emotional arc in her sets. 

She holds a monthly residency on Bloop London Radio (last Tuesday of the month at 7pm), and has played across London including Brixton Courtyard, Dalston Superstore and The Cause, to name a few. Although she regards herself as a relative newcomer to the scene, she has been working hard on curating guestmixes as well as her monthly radioshows, and has a lot of projects lined up for 2021.  

A lifelong music lover, she started her musical career with a solid grounding in classical training as a flautist, singer and pianist, and was initially inspired by  minimalist composers Philip Glass, Nils Frahm, Yann Tiersen and The Cinematic Orchestra. When she discovered electronic music this progressed to a broadspectrum love of all melodic, deep and progressive genres (and a hint of techno/minimal too) - "I don't discriminate by genre but to me, music has to be both emotional and beautiful".

A bit about the mix from Freya:

"This is an ethereal, emotional journey through the more ambient side of melodic/progressive house and techno - I decided to build the entire mix around the mood the 2nd track, one of my all time faves - Turn Around by Sailor & I (Âme remix) - not much more needs to be said. I hope you can lose yourself a little for an hour, and join me for the trip."

Redfreya is an emerging artist in the London-based deep house/tech scene, with a monthly residency on Bloop London Radio - Urban Soundscapes. 

A few words from Redfreya: 

"I've been DJing for a few years now, and listening to house and techno for almost a decade, but I find that my taste is continually evolving still, especially as I grow as an artist and consider sounds and emotions to weave into my sets. This is a deep house mix, but I tried to keep it very grounded and down to earth, with a lot of simmering, minimal grooves and a slow build up of contained energy. I hope I've struck the right balance between emotional and also uplifting (without being too 'happy' which always makes me cringe in house music - sorry not sorry). I love the Fan Club atmosphere and was really happy to curate a set for you guys - I only wish I lived a bit closer to Australia so we could meet on a dancefloor. Hope you enjoy the music, feedback always welcome x"

Welcome to May's Exclusive Series mix... With Ajit Sarathi.

Ajit Sarathi, born in Himachal and raised in the city of New Delhi, began his career at an early age as a dj under the influences of old school dance musicians and groups from the late 90’s. His strong candidature as an outstanding dj stems from a blend of his professional experiences and his training in Indian classical music. 

He is considered by many as the man who contributes his special touch to every party by a mixture of charisma and his particular choice of music. Together with a sound that is best described as a sophisticated blend of melodic house and techno mutations, packed with twists and turns to assure complete floor annihilation, it is this refined musical vision that have made him one of the most sought after artists in his genre and a preferred pick for numerous dance promoters .

His energetic, upfront, “no holds barred” style makes progressive house, melodic techno, and break beat melt into one. He does not like to be put into one distinct category, rather he considers himself to be an underground dance music performer.
